Can I have my rights as an omnivore protected then so these over zealous pricks can't stop me having a steak when I fancy one? Or my rights as a commuter so extinction rebellion can't block my path?

My son and his family all turned vegan last year He's never felt fitter or healthier. Up and down the country 800 k people did the same thing so there is definitely a growing number of them . I'm all for it provided you don't resort to quorn or TVP .

I've never used Quorn but had a Vegetarian meal at that pub between Bridgemere Garden World & Dagfields a few years ago - apparently it had Quorn 'Chicken' in it & it was absolutely deeeeelish! If I could find out how they made it I'd do it all the time!

Use Quorn quite often in our house, not so much now vegan son has gone off working in Mauritius for a year, but it's a nice alternative in curries and Bolognese

I personally have a lot of admiration for anyone who can stick to a vegan diet. It takes a lot of discipline and self control, it's the humane thing to do, and it's much better for the environment.
I wish I could do it, but I can't resist the temptation. I've gone through periods of vegetarianism of up to two years, but giving up everything with milk and eggs would be too hard.

I've no issues with what anyone eats or chooses not to eat I do have an issue with this chap making out it was because he was vegan he was sacked and saying it should be akin to religion and protected that imho is bollocks.

I have no problem with anyone going vegan for a while or being vegan forever, not for me but if that’s you’re thing... but please, just shut up and quietly get on with it. Why the constant need to advertise the fact you’re vegan ?
I eat anything really but I’ve never felt the need to drop it into every conversation. What is it they’re looking for ? Sympathy ? A Medal ? Attention ? I don’t get it 🤔

I'm all for it provided you don't resort to quorn or TVP . I had some quorn southern fried bites yesterday. Bloody lovely I have also changed my mince beef to Morrison’s own brand. Again very nice. I have also changed some of my milk to soya and oat milks I’m not going full on vegan or vege but little changes.

I think lots of people are making changes to their diet , I've reduced my meat intake over the past 5 years , fish 2/3 times a week also a lot less processed meat like bacon / sausage, pate , pies etc . I won't give up meat entirely. Apparently supermarkets have seen a huge reduction in beef and pork sales

I have some long standing health issues which means I've been on a very restricted diet for the last seven years but even before then I had drastically reduced my meat intake. Looking back I always preferred vegetarian meals when given the choice, but have never gone so far to be full on vegan.
Now I have fish or prawns most days and really enjoy it rather than eating it just because it's a necessity. My wife can eat anything but she often eats fish or chicken and very rarely, if ever, has any red meat at all. She also uses quorn as a meat substitute every now and then.

Everybody’s vegan cus it’s cool these days.
Still wear genuine leather and 100% wool items while they’re shopping for nut cutlets though, then they remove their leather purse from their camel skin bag to pay before driving off in the Audi 4x4... with leather seats.

I told a vegan that steak is my favourite food. He said vegan steak is his favourite, how about the sauce? I said beef dripping. He didn’t say anything.

Your choices are virtually identical to mine, Dees. Lots of fish. Never tried Quorn - just never got round to it yet - but would really like to. Virtually never have red meat but would break the rule for sausages (& do quite often) + of course Cottage/Shephed's Pie & Lasagna. I'm also very much the same as you re. when you say 'I always preferred vegetarian meals when given the choice, but have never gone so far to be full on vegan.' I totally admire the enormous discipline and commitment of vegans, but I just couldn't do without eggs, milk and cheese. I know you can get substitute milk & cheese, but it's not the same.

Great minds and all that murph Same here, I like milk, cheese and eggs too much to do without them. I think as I'm very restricted what I can eat generally I may as well have what I can eat so I most definitely will not be a vegan. Nothing to do with principles or beliefs it's just that I eat what I can and what I enjoy.

I'm all for it provided you don't resort to quorn or TVP . A good friend went vegan in the week and then ate what he wanted at the weekend but quite often found himself having vegan meals anyway. He lost about 2 stone in 3 months (he wasn't fat before) and also said how much better he felt, healthier and happier. When we go out for meals together he isn't pouring scorn over my triple cheese and bacon burger which is good. I'm going to follow his lead a bit and try and have a few more vegan/veggie meals in the week and less processed meat (which is often where I end up in the week because of circumstances). There's a lot more choice and options now so you don't get stuck with grilled peppers. Also, quite a few beers are vegan friendly as well and really nice (Vocation brewery do some crackers).
