No. We have fans who will stab any and every manager in the back at the first opportunity, A couple of losses on the trot and O'Neil will be their next pin cushion.

Not sure about that one mate Most people on here have blamed the team for our demise. He's a no nonsense guy and I like him whatever happens.

He’s a likeable, down to Earth bloke and if he keeps us up he’s got a lot of credit in the bank.
He’s pragmatic, but not negative and organised but not boring in his approach. If we manage to get his NI pressing going he may be onto something superb. But it’s early days, he needs to start picking up points v mid-table sides over the next few months (which I think he will) for any doubts to be dispelled.

Pulis United us. Until he didn't. He certainly united us all in the away end at Walsall in his first game when he took Bjarni off. BM

Is this the manager that will UNITE us?
Well I'd suggest Nathan Jones did exactly that.
No fucker wanted him to stay, did they?

Isn't it always the case that fans are united when things are going well? Pulis is quite possibly the most divisive man in all of football, but I doubt fans were divided walking out of Wembley after the FA Cup semifinal.

Nope. I am sure the NJ fan boys hiding in the corner still secretly hate him. They just can't say anything as MoN is doing such a job without buying anyone new. I've not seen anyone wanting him back. I liked him and really wanted him to succeed but it became increasingly obvious he wasn't going to work out and that, while he talked the talk really well, he was never going to walk the walk with us.

For as long as Poolis has a pulse, there will be a sections of "fans" that are willing MON to fail.

This is a manager who is doing what rowett should have done, getting rid of the egos. I like the blokes straight talking, someone who comments on what he sees not what he thinks we want hear. I wanted rowett to be given time but hey ho. This guy has impressed so far!!

I don't think any manager can fully unite us, any bad run of results will have the Pulis fundamentalists out in force wringing their hands again. This chap stands as good a chance as any tho, I think we could probably lose the next ten games and he'd still have a better record than Pulis achieved when he first arrived

We could win the Premiership, Champions League and Club World Cup and still not have 100% of the fan base behind the manager.
Let's face it, most Stokies, including me, love a good moan.

Pulis United us. Until he didn't. Hughes did as well for two and a half seasons once he got few wins and some expansive football going. It's results in the end, everything else is just background noise.

Nope. I am sure the NJ fan boys hiding in the corner still secretly hate him. They just can't say anything as MoN is doing such a job without buying anyone new. I think NJ had plenty of people who desperately wanted to believe he could walk the walk. I've not seen any evidence of anybody being an "NJ fan boy" though? It was pretty obvious by the end that he was out of his depth, even for his most ardent well-wishers. For a thread about uniting the fans, can we stop this "fan boy" type of talk please? I wanted Nathan to succeed. He had something and his enthusiasm was infectious. Might be a case of wrong club, wrong time, and maybe he will have his day in the sun somewhere else. It became such a chaotic mess though it was hard to defend him, and some of his signings were difficult to fathom. I agree with BM. I feel we are in a much better place with MoN. I posted at the time that I thought it was a good appointment when we had been linked with Pardew etc, although I didn't fancy Pearson either, so what do I know?! I am a bit of a loyalist though and will back any Stoke manager and any player who wears the famous red & white shirt!

Oh C'mon, The majority of people who are currently trying to detract from MON's accomplishments were doing the same for NJ. Regardless of who the manager is, we support Stoke. Can't we just enjoy the fact that we are doing better now than 3 months ago?

To be honest I though Nathan Jones was going do it, he won me over with his passion and enthusiasm, but we know how mad Nath turned out.
With MON he seems a total professional, doesn’t run around like a raving loon, knows what is required and you’ve got say he is doing an unbelievable job with the tools he has. I genuinely believe he will unite us

I do hope so ...I’m a bit fed up of manager after manager ...Mon seems to have things under control ...keep it simple and get the team spirit and confidence back in the squad ....get rid of the negative players who try to influence the rest and cause trouble .....he’s seems to a very professional manager ...and very open and honest...fingers crossed I think he’s a “keeper” ..👍

MON is doing a job and half. It took balls to stay calm and assess the squad whilst losing potential points. Now he needs to move out the high earners and want aways and replace with younger, hungrier and more ambitious players. Not SEO easy eh?
Time will tell. Maybe we have stumbled upon a gem of a manager. We will see. But the signs are encouraging. Beat Millwall next week and hopefully will create a gap away from bottom three and close the gap to the teams just ahead of us.

There is definitely something about the character of a manager as well as the results which ultimately determine the allegiance of the fans
I would say the issue TP, MH, GR and NJ all shared was that when push came to shove you felt it was all about them.
When results are going well fans don't much care about this, but as soon as there is a wobble I think this surfaces and alot of fans pick up on it and frankly don't like it.
I'd say Lambert and MON are different characters. I think Lambert could have been hugely popular but of course he was way out of his depth, but even while the results were truly awful I dont feel that fans had contempt for him in the way they did for MH, GR and NJ. TP was a slightly different case because of the way he took us from no mans land to the Wembley etc, but still split the fans because as a personality he is also a bit of a mixed bag.
MON has a very unassuming demeanour, he doesn't get rattled, he hasn't promised the earth, he hasn't banged on about what a great job he's doing, or what he has done in the past. It's such a welcome change.

MON is coolness personified, publically atleast. concede 2 in 4 mins his hands are in his pocket score 2 last min goals to win, his hands stay in his pockets. I am sure he is more animated away from the touch line, but he does look like he has ice running through is veins. I really like him and think that he is doing a great job.
