Week after the secret Beatles gig at Keele with a resurrected John Lennon, right?

Bit of a negative post but we could be individual or relevant to our area. Leave the stone Roses to the mancs just like the scousers change Irish songs. Candy Flip it is then. Something by Robbie?

Never saw The Pistols but did see PIL 3 times early 1980s Bet that Oasis gig was brilliant, I’d love to see them live, if they ever reform I’ll be on those tickets like a fly on shit. I was only 13 when they played their last gig in 09 so not old enough to see them. Was the Stone Roses show part of an official tour or was this during their sort of break they had before recording the next album? I tried looking at their gigography but Google didn’t help me sadly.

The Stone Roses went completely AWOL between mid-1990 and late 1994. They weren't playing in Stoke - or anywhere else - in 1992.

Pretty certain Nigel Bamford booked them and put them on. And just for the record saw The Smiths 1982 down Staffs Uni.. College Road site. About 200 students there and they were shit.

Let's assume I live in a retirement home, I have great grandchildren and I'm not "current" on the music scene. Then you’re more likely to know it

Unfortunately a lot of people missed that - me included - because it was the same night Bruce Springsteen played an accoustic set in Candles wine bar. Another thick fucking bell end. Get yourself on Praise N Grumble son. Really? Personally speaking I always thought a lot of Springsteen's lyrics were quite well written.

Thought it was a bit shit as I was trying to sing it to the Ricky Martin ‘she bangs’.... I’ll never laugh again and think for fucks sake it’s in the title, at the poster who said ‘which song’ 🙈

I was there for both gigs (and went to loads of Smiths gigs in and around Manchester) and it was like listening to two different bands. They were outstanding up Hanley but shit down Stoke..

No they were not. See, it’s easy stating opinion as fact if you are so inclined. I saw them about 20 times and not just around Manchester. Whoopy shit for me. I’m glad you’ve checked google to clarify your dates. As that adds real gravitas to your subjectivity. Blah blah blah... Quick check google and find out who supported them in 85 at the Viccy hall. Go on, it was you who lobbed the sausage on the Meat is Murder tour to register your disgust at the quality of the Poly gig eh. Yours in sport. Yawn.

There’s no record of Stone Roses playing in the Wheatsheaf. Andy Couzens left the Stone Roses to form The High who played a brilliant gig in The Place around 1990.
Anne Ridley did the bookings at The Wheatsheaf at that time. She’d confirm or deny it.

I saw the Three Degrees at Jollees around 1977, Eddie and the Hot Rods up the Viccy Hall, Squeeze were third on the bill having just released Take Me I'm Yours and were fantastic. Also saw the Boomtown Rats up there around the same time, they were great. It's a Rat Trap Stoke and you've been caught. Went a Northern Soul All Nighter at Keele but fell asleep! That's about it! Edit seeing Slicko's post reminded me I saw Curiosity Killed the Cat at The Place, played one song and fucked off!

Mediocrity Killed the Cat.
