Why can’t we do them?
The person taking it waits about 10 seconds, sees the striker down the line, ignores him, Allen hides behind his man, Cousins stays in the middle of the pitch, McClean will come for the flick on about two yards before the striker who is there for the flick on, Ince hides behind his man then we lose it.
Every time.

What frustrates me as well is when the thrower launches the ball in such a way that it bounces to the recipient at a height that is difficult to control. Aim at their chest or feet for gods sake.

It is always best to throw it high down the line. This ploy tends to gain ground. If near the opposing penalty area throw it into the box.

yet on the radio MON said they had been working on throw ins, didn,t look like it Christ did he? Really didn’t look like it. So many basic errors from them. It’s like they’ve never taken one every time we get one.

What the hell have they told them to do with throw ins?
We can’t even do the basics. Vokes didn’t come short to go down the line to flick it on to Campbell.
Baath would make some ridiculous angle down the right full back position. Meaning we either end up with that useless git belting or passing it to Jack to belt it.
We lose so much possession from throw ins it’s untrue.

Our throw ins have been of Ladsandads standard for some time.
Whenever we get a throw in their half it usually ends up going back to Butland and Baath who then boot it up to the place we got the throw in from in the first place!
What is the point of that? Might as well launch the throw in up for a 50/50 ball rugby line in style!
So frustrating!
Then there is the fact that usually only one player (if we are lucky) makes themselves available for the throw in and nobody has the foresight to make themselves available to that player. Added to this that the throw in is often aimed for that players groin for some bizarre reason!!!
Shambles!

yet on the radio MON said they had been working on throw ins, didn,t look like it You can say that but Allen was offering for every throw today which is something that hasn’t happened this season, there has 100% been some work put in on throw ins.

He’s been doing it most of the season but usually does it late, very often does it hiding behind an opposition player and then almost definitely loses it if it’s been thrown to him. But in his defence how we throw it is an issue too. We never make it easy for the person receiving the ball. But that’s the same with all the passing we do.

Yeah i get what you are saying about him offering late, he would also get to close to the thrower which for me is hiding. Offering late/as the ball is being thrown is a bit of shithouse move at least now he is actually making himself available and there is a general improvement in movement from the throw (not as much as we’d like though)

Half of the time he does it he’s hiding behind an opposition player, just watch him. 😂 He does a lot of that but because he’s moving a bit people think he’s actually trying. Walters was a master of this too.

Yesterday was the worst it’s been in a while.

Fuckin bug bear of mine. We have never been able to deliver a decent throw in to players feet, instead it is delivered at a ridiculous height that either player has to jump to control it, usually allen , or it is possession lost.
