Who'd have thought, at the start of the campaign, that he might be our Player of the Season? I would He has been our best player in an albeit dire season

He's got the scfc dna, typical pulis type and the type of effort stoke fans today expect as standard if to be appreciated

I can't believe a lot of the garbage that has been posted about him since he signed for us. Even when Jones hung him out to dry by playing him at left back he still applied himself and tried his best. It's hard playing in a team like ours where there has been low levels of confidence and at times low levels of effort, but McClean always applies his own standards and works very hard. He also gives us a bit of edge that the squad otherwise lacks. No matter how this season concludes, McClean, along with Clucas, is one of the few players who will be able to look back and think at least I gave it my all and it's good that we are acknowledging that.

You know who his spirit reminds me of? SJW. Grit and determination in abundance, the bloke never stops trying. Mclean is also a better footballer than Super Jon (with all due respect!). Here's to hoping today could kick them all on a bit. Great to see Ryan back in marshalling the defence too. Better footballer than Walters? What you smoking in your pipe Pete? I clearly need something stronger

Well said. McClean without doubt one of our best players. Consistently gets higher reviews in the neutral media outlets so it is recognised. Sadly not on the Fruitcake.

Absolutely huge performance by McClean. I doubt that we will see a better example of fighting for the cause, than we saw in that match.
The guy deserves every bit of recognition for what he did yesterday.

Last week he was shite this week he's a hero, that's the oatcake for you. Look, he's not the best player in the world, he's quite limited technically but he's a trier and you can go further in this game being a trier than if you have all the ability but no heart. McClean has a big heart. The 2 best performances by a single player this season have both been by McClean

He's now regularly going past his man and putting a decent cross in. As has been stated him and Clucas have been leagues above the others.

Fernian? Is that someone who eats ferns? I'll edit but you get my point Yes. Your point is you want to twist a thread about McClean’s performance on the pitch into one about his political views.

He’s player of the season as it stands with Clucas a close second I don't quite agree with that, but he's been the best player under O'Neill for me.

To be honest I've been highly critical of his signing mainly because I thought he was a garbage footballer that we spent way too much money on. However since MON has come in he's played very well and yesterday's MoTM was very well deserved. Hope it continues and he proves me wrong.
Dont know if it was the speed of their right back yesterday but I thought McClean looked a lot quicker than usual as well.

Fernian? Is that someone who eats ferns? I'll edit but you get my point What stupid point? What his political or religious preferences are - is utterly irrelevant inb the context of this post. If you struggle to recognise someone who is prepared to fight for the cause, in this case SCFC, then you are one saddo. Just because his views differ from yours, doesn't mean that his contribution can't be recognised. Do you actually serve any useful purpose?

He went in where it hurts , and he got hurt badly , to win us the winning corner It's why he is a footballer and imbula berahino and co aren't Put simply without him we lose that game yesterday. That's what a proper fighting spirit can do for a team. Very notable mention for Shawcross today. He was very definition of uncompromising today, hopefully we will now see how much he has been missed this season. McLean and Shawcross give MON a base to build on in this survival battle. He has players he can now point to when explaining to the others what is required to dig ourselves out of this unholy mess. Up the Potters, you have a bit of my respect back. And thanks for the double shin scrape off those fookin seats during the best mental in ages!!!!

He went in where it hurts , and he got hurt badly , to win us the winning corner It's why he is a footballer and imbula berahino and co aren't Good post. He was physically torn apart after that last burst to close down the defender, get up, chase it down again and slide in to get a vital touch for the corner. He still got up to whack the ball in. That's before even considering the knock he had that could have even had him subbed in the first half. Supporters can take that for granted but the only thing dragging him through that last minute was pure mental strength that only a genuinely small percentage of players have. Walters, Mama, Lennie being among the handful we've been blessed with in recent years. Nobody can teach or train that kind of mental strength and determination. That performance yesterday was typical of James McClean's strongest attributes, typical of the attitude and bollocks we need to have, and a credit to the shirt and badge he was wearing.

A very very limited footballer who puts a shift in occasionally and is being made to look good by some shithouses who call themselves professional footballers. No where near as good as Walters and certainly shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath as Denis Smith. That is just batshit mental.

Wished he wear a poppy though. I don't! I'd rather he have the courage of his convictions than back down in the face of a baying mob. I always wear a poppy and am a huge supporter of the concept, but I'm also a huge supporter of his absolute right not to take part. People should not be pressured into wearing poppies. It's "poppy fascism" and I abhor it.
