Someone who doesn't start regularly for a third division team, looks like he'd be free in the summer and we have our own young players who can play there. It seems a very odd one to prioritise to me. Over the years Momo id say Stein,Biggins,Sheron,Cresswell,Crossley and plenty more were all players going nowhere until our managers signed them Hard to say he is going nowhere, it's not like he is 30 years of age. A lot of players start in the lower divisions and work their way up. O Neill obviously knows him and as unspectacular as it seems I'd rather have his good recent knowledge of a player rather than the clubs in house transfer maestros suggesting players. At least ONeill knows what we are buying

He is not being bought to play on the wings by the way, he will be number 10 or in the more advanced two in a 4-3-3

If he's as good as that chap we signed from them who played right wing under Waddo he'll be ok. Got knighted too!

Lets say this signing means Joe can go. Larger transfer fee in and larger ways out. If he can do the same job then it strikes me as good busy - a big iff I guess though

Looks like he played left-back a bit as a youth team player at Man Utd - but doesn't seem to have played there as a pro.

Got to be earmarked as CM surely, watching them vids above to me he offers a few similarities of another player we had from blackpool, like a slimmer and more mobile version of Charlie adam to me. Likes a long pass, comfortable on the ball with vision, doesnt look like he hides either

To be fair, Sheikh, he does seem to be a central midfielder. And Blackpool apparently have an option to extend his deal by a year. So the fee may not be particularly nominal. Fair enough mate, I read he was a winger when we were first linked before Christmas. Still concerns me he can't regularly start in a bang average Blackpool side.

Looks like a Clucas replacement to me. Is it too far fetched to think we are either selling both Clucas and Allen or MON has been asked to get rid of one of Allen or Clucas and has chosen to keep Allen?

But he does at least look like a footballer with ability in the clips, rather than a Jordan Cousins. And MON will have been aware of pretty much every move he's made through his career and know what he can do as well as anyone in the country. Suppose when you're dealing with a player pool as small as Northern Ireland's, you tend to develop an encyclopedic knowledge of their abilities - and he's been in their system since he took over

Plenty of 'rated' players can't get into the starting 11 for 1 reason or another ,it doesn't make them crap.Think of Ndiaye, Etebo and Bojan for starters. There's usually a reason the fans aren't made aware of. Stein and Sheron are 2 more. I'd think O'Neill is the reason he's coming here

Wonder if this would give them the funds to get Duffy in on loan, as Nixon has mentioned they want to?

I said yesterday that if we were prepared to let both Badou and Etebo go (albeit on loan) then we needed an extra midfielder. That'll be it I reckon as far as midfield is concerned. I think Joe will stay myself and hope that he does.

Wonder if this would give them the funds to get Duffy in on loan, as Nixon has mentioned they want to? Would imagine so. From the videos his style of football looks like a more forward thinking and aggressive version of Joe Allen; but with less technical ability. This could very well be Joe Allen's replacement either now or in the summer.

Quick, sign him before he realises there's no win bonus. All joking aside, I really *really* hope this win bonus thing has been corrected.

Why do you say that mate? He seems like a promising young wide player. We need more options out there and it hopefully paves the way for Ince to leave? Someone who doesn't start regularly for a third division team, looks like he'd be free in the summer and we have our own young players who can play there. It seems a very odd one to prioritise to me. 45 games last season and 20+ so far this season hardly sounds like a fringe player at Blackpool, Sheikhy! Add to that 7 full caps for the NI senior International team, and you have a young player who will probably be keen to bust a gut for a manager he knows and who knows him. I'd rather have a young, hungry player prepared to bust a gut for our manager than some of the players we have blown £millions on since relegation who look as if their best days are long behind them when you watch their displays on the pitch. He'll be cheap (which is good given our FFP situation) and hopefully his contract will reflect that fact that he has potential but is not yet the finished article. Compared to many of our signings in the past two years, this one appears to have fewer downsides than most. I realise you (like the rest of us) hanker for the days when we signed Bojan, Arnie and Shaqiri but you'll need to be patient before we sign that sort of player again!

A few decent balls through and past defenders there, something for speedy Ngoy, Campbell and Verlinden to get after instead of Vokes or Gregory
