We can give opinions all day long on who should/ shouldn't play, but we don't see the players train every day. I think O'Neill knows what he wants and what he likes, makes a decision and goes with it.
He may get it wrong but he's decisive and results have most definitely improved regardless of performance. We can read whatever we like into his selections. ( I for one think he doesn't believe Campbell does enough and therefore has sidelined him and I agree) . I'm confident he's going to do what's required and get us out of the mire so I'm on his side. Onwards and upwards, the football can improve later, in Michael we trust!

The argument was he’s sorted the defence he hasn’t he’s lost three already snd likely 4 by next weekend , I’m of the view by the time the fixtures even out his record will be as bad if not worse than Jones

He's doing what any decent manager in this situation would do. Sort the defence out first, make sure we don't lose, the attacking options will come later. Admittedly it has taken him a few games to sort out the defence but he is getting there with it. With the tools he's got at his disposal I'd say he's making a decent job of it. He lost to Cardiff , Blackburn and hull add Boro to that lust next seek and that myth is well and truly exploded We don't need a manager at this club we need a miracle worker with the shit O Neil has to deal with. He ain't doing too bad at the moment, yes it's shit but he needs a massive anchor to halt the oil tanker from running aground.

Won 3, lost 3, drew 1, if we had a run like that throughout the season relegation wouldn't be an issue.

And all those players are still not good enough to be deployed, the only players that deserve to be anywhere near the first team at the moment are Allen, McClean and Cousins. He's getting the best out of a pile of shit that he's been given, something the last 3 managers could not do.

Correct and i think the backs deserve to be in it dont agree with vokes or Ince but MON sees them every day..His structure is firmly believed on not conceding many

I think we are going backwards under O’Neill. No sign of him motivating the players Mr 'Goals are Irrelevant' moaning about a nil nil? If Tony had delivered that you'd have had to change your trousers.

jones has signed a pile of shit. totally out of his depth. O'Neill has to work with that, albeit on a doubled salary but he will do well to keep this lot up. Club is rotten to the core

Not the case though is it the best this squad can produce is The performances at Swansea , home to Fulham and he’s achieving short of those levels with a new nadir yesterday Of Clueless selection , substitutions , organisation and game management . Noticeably all the players above played in those beer performances , wait till he gets a few more Anglo Celtic plodders in yesterday will look like Barca Ona acid

As I’ve said come back with the clean sheets after the 4 games starting box day and the points tally . Lindsay and ward will be be absolute liabilities on those 4 as a flakey midfield containign clucas on a stretcher flakey ince and lumbering Vokes give free run to the opposition

He has a much better points per game ratio and the "better players" were prominent in the massively underperforming sides prior to his arrival. I personally would be picking Etebo, Badou and Gregory but he isn't and we are getting more points than we were so what do I know. Jones last 4 games got 6 points from Swansea , Fulham , Millwall and Sheffield Wednesday let’s see how O’Neil does for the 4 games starting Boxing Day , personally I think he’ll get less than three , he’s taking us backwards . Ah yes, the old, well tried, and trusted cherry picking routine to make statistics fit the argument.

After reading the comments on here I thought we hadn’t created a lot but watching the highlights, Ince came close and could/should have scored and we could easily have had another. We can survive and it’s not going to be pretty but a few 1-0’s will see us home.

Interesting one this..... What I have heard about MON is that if players don't put in the effort on the training pitch they don't get picked for the match day squad. Clearly we don't know what goes on behind the scenes.

Beg to differ he’s taking us backwards which seemed unthinkable , he’s ignoring the best players , i personally find not a single cell of optimism in his press conferences , selection , tactics or game management right now I’d say hell b3 lucky to get more than 36 points You are right in that in some ways we have gone backwards - the fact that you and others find this "unthinkable" just illustrates the ridiculous blind faith in sacking the manager as the surefire solution to all our ills. If a club is basically ok and has fairly simple problems to resolve a new manager can make an immediate impact - like Mourinho at Spurs. If a club has long term and deep seated problems - like us - it's going to take a long time to fix - especially if it means rewriting the tactics and structure of the team mid season which is what O'Neil is having to do because we had a dysfunctional team and a dodgy game plan when he arrived. Effectively 5 or 6 of O'Neil's games so far were pre-season games - in effect we are a couple of games into the season and finding out feet with a new formation and core 11 while the rest of the league are half way through the season and up and running with settled teams and settled tactics. We have gone backwards - the football is stuttering and pretty turgid but there are definite signs of improvement - we're making fewer stupid errors and we look a lot more solid defensively. So in answer to the OP - the negativity is largely down to the fact that most posters on here still don't get that sacking the manager isn't the route to instant success and when, yet again, a manager fails to make magic happen it's once more the managers fault. It's the same thought process behind blaming the next goat for the crops failing having just slaughtered it's predecessor.

We've picked up more points in half as many games since his appointment. Your post isn't even an opinion, it's factually incorrect. Benign games come back after the 4 games starting Boxing Day Jones took 6 points from Wednesday , Fulham , Millwall and Swansea fancy O’Neil won’t get within 50% of that , he’s Hopelessly out of his depth and the Eyebo Badou saga shows cowardice. Moronic. You cannot take a selection of 4 games from a span of over 30 and state that if O’Neill doesn’t win those, he is awful. Take pretty much any other 4 games in a row and see how Jones stacks up.

Yesterday was one of the worst games of football I’ve watched. Why not be negative?
MON has done ok but 4 years of dross takes its toll and no one should be positive for the sake of it.
Yesterday was a must win game and we were utter bollocks. There wasn’t one positive.

How anyone could judge MON to be worse than Jones is beyond me:they'd need to be more deluded than Jones which says something! He's started to make similar fucked up decisions Jones did and he never recovered from them Good point but very early days I'd say I suspect/assume he's playing with what he thinks he'll have left post-window and has a very, very unbalanced, narrow, diamond heavy squad to choose from Yesterday was turgid admittedly, but every point gained is one away from relegation He needs a good window and 30 games under his belt before we jump on him I'd say How jones escaped the boo boys for so long is mystifying The players deserve players (collectively) but MON is getting performances out of the likes of Cousins and everyone wrote him off after a few run outs I suspect we'll be just about safe by the end of the season
