I look forward to Stoke on Trent and it’s image being transformed as that’s apparently what happens to Tory cities Stoke-on-trent has a terrible image. Remind me again who has been in control all these years ? Labour .....I’m on about the funding the city gets from central government Surely even you saw that?

Doe's it matter which party is in charge, none of them give a shit about places like Stoke-on-Trent. Whoever won this election, Stoke-on-Trent will still have high unemployment and be a low paid area in 5 years time.

For the rights and wrongs of it I imagine governments throw money at seats they hold It is wrong for tories to not throw investment at seats they don’t hold Now for the first time the tories can be held to account in stoke.

Haven't they already promised about £130m to Stoke and £20m to Kidsgrove on some town regeneration schemes, they now need to deliver as they will want to keep these marginal seats in 5 years time. I heard that Mayor Khan has authorised another Thames tunnel at Blackheath at estimated cost of £1bn, maybe that sort of money should be targeted towards police to stop these knife crimes, if it's all in the same pot ?

I honestly don’t know what he said but il take your word for it , I don’t know why ppl were shocked about the result in stoke on Trent , as because of the massive leave vote from stoke , if you voted for Brexit then voting Tory was the only solution , I work with 15 labour supporters who all voted Tory as they wanted Brexit

Presumably the last 9 years have gone some way to redressing the massive funding received by the city and the borough between 1997 and 2010.

Labour have been wank and done nothing for this city for at least as long as I can remember. They've had no incentive to because it's always been taken for granted; precisely due to this baffling, outdated and self-defeating "pits pots steel dad grandad" mentality. Equally, no other party could be arsed to even bother campaigning because of this stupid obsession.
The Tories may not be any better but I'm delighted the City has for once decided to break this stupid cycle. Parties will actually have to do something here to earn future votes now.

There are still so many posters who think the government should spend massively on their community, presumably at the expense of someone else. I live in North Yorkshire which is as blue as it gets, my constituency returned a Tory with a 20,000 majority with over 30,000 votes, but I can't think of what government extra spending there is apart from CAP for farmers. There is certainly not anything extra on health, education, environment/roads etc., although quite a few votes might have been gained by suspending fracking. The majority of people are working class engaged in farming, associated trades, and all the usual things (health, education, retailing, tradesmen, light industry, etc.) They know which side their bread is buttered and get on with life. I guess the food bank trolleys in the supermarkets are as well filled as anywhere else. I don't wish to be heartless, although I know I might sound like that, but I do get tired of the constant moaning. My wife's relatives who couldn't find work joined the army, or moved. I have one relative who has worked in Scotland, Wales, and is currently in Essex commuting to London; another relative who spent time in Singapore. I have worked in Wales 4 times, the North East most of my life, before retiring. My advice is if you are not satisfied with things in North Staffs do something about it, but don't wait for politicians to make things better for you, or you will be waiting a long time.

Regarding the amount of money we pay to the EU, well Stoke has had way more than 60% in return for the tax payers of Stoke its virtually balanced out even. The latest EU grant for us was a hundred and fifty two million pounds which was up for renewal next year. lets see what Johnson does.
