There was a massive surge in Labour votes in 2017 which had the effect of keeping Corbyn's opponents quiet. Set this against the backdop of May's disastrous reign and the continuing Brexit situation who was to know within the Labour party that 2019 would be so disastrous almost to the bitter end? Like Paul said of rewriting history people forget Theresa May got one of the biggest Tory vote share in years and was up to 42% from the 36% in 2015. Does not excuse her poor show as PM Corbyn had the momentum pun intended of momentum, remainers etc but it was sold on a false promise of “we will implement brexit, albeit our version of it” This promise was repeatedly undermined at every opportunity. Had Corbyn had his “neutral on Brexit” policy as he did last time then his gains would not have been nearly as high. Corbyn’s flip flop position on Brexit is the sole reason why he isn’t sat in number 10 now So did Corbyn in 2017 with 40%

There was never a chance of Corbyn winning the election Not winning outright in 2017, but only 2,000 odd votes away in key marginals from being able to form a government..... May was 400 votes from 8 key marginals in having a majority

The disaster of 2015 was just too big for him to make up in 2017 His brexit policy of ignoring the working classes and their huge Brexit vote and the London bubble lost him 2019

So did Corbyn in 2017 with 40% based on a false promise of brexit Of which Corbyn needs to take his share of the blame. But the way Labour operate means that he couldn’t be dictatorial about the path Labour took after that election. It was clearly the wrong one - I said that at the time - yet most of the people actively pushing the remain agenda (Starmer, Thornberry and the like) now try and distance themselves from what happened......

But those talking about the death of the Labour Party also need to realise 5 years is a long time in politics. Brexit won’t be on the lips of most people come the next election and there’s plenty of time for whoever takes over to unite the party. If that happens who knows what the dynamics of the next election will be?

Wrong Daily will get the gig she has the backing of Marxist mongmentum and the Unions, mongmentum have a grip on the Labour Party and they are funded by the Unions, hence they will be unelectable for at least another ten years whatever Bozzer does.

Blair killed the Labour Party, Corbyn zombified it and now it’s just a rotting corpse. Can it be resurrected from the dead ? Unlikely as it needs to win back the working class vote, how are they going to do that with their “progressive” policies on things like immigration ? Labour is still touting free movement, now you may think this is a good idea, but traditional labour voters don’t, they want it capped, it was one of the driving factors behind brexit, working class people believe immigration has gone too far, too fast, they’re not going to vote for a party that basically advocates open borders.

It does not matter which one wins, Starmer is by far the most credible, but is devoid of personality and Nandy is the only one that appears to be likeable, but she's far from the finished article. Labour needs a leader in the true sense of the word, and I can't think of anyone left in the party that fits that description. All Boris has to do is walk and chew gum at the same time to win three terms and give up when he gets bored or until a new opposition leader (maybe with a new party) with a vision that the public can believe in, comes along and takes the fight to him. For all his faults, people get Boris in a way that they did not get Jeremy. Boris is a case of better the devil you know, Corbyn had no backbone and the public knew it.

I was always under the impression that we cannot have a catholic PM so how can Rebecca Long-Bailey run for the job? I may be wrong on this but its interesting if Im correct.

No the only bar to catholics is the monarchy Since James the second Incorrect Act of Settlement 1701 which in effect is a close to a constitution along with the bill of Rights as we get forbids it to this day. The Times reported on 6 November 1995 that Prince Charles had said on that day to Tony Blair and Paddy Ashdown that "Catholics should be able to ascend to the British throne". Ashdown claimed the Prince said: "I really can't think why we can't have Catholics on the throne".[19] As I said earlier its still law but it wont be upheld.

By and large centrists or conservatives win elections in the UK, far left progressives/socislists won't ever get elected and they are getting hammered in the west right now, a lot of it is down to their immigration stance but they don't want to believe that fact, they're in denial.

Labour leadership hopeful Emily Thornberry said the exit talks were unlikely to go smoothly and said she expected the country would be "back in no-deal territory by the summer". The shadow foreign secretary, speaking at an event in Bristol featuring the four Labour leadership candidates, said her party would need a Remain-backing leader who had been "on the right side of the argument all along".
Still not learning

Labour, once again, focussing on the real concerns of ordinary people by wanting to change what the 'E' stands for in OBE.

She’s got zero chance of winning, and she’s done as much to undermine Labour’s chances in the last 18 months as anyone.....

They cry crocodile tears about stuff like antisemitism when they need to gain political capital from it, yet are quite happy to embrace language that's extremely offensive and derogatory to people with learning disabilities at the same time. Carps, Roger and various others use the m-word in this context... They're angry, bitter, hypocritical little men I'm afraid
