I remember browsing through an ancient tome by Robert Plot "A Natural History of Staffordshire" written in 1686 which has references to ghosts. You would only find a copy in a library (probably under lock and key). If my memory is correct, I remember ghosts in Moddershall being mentioned, but there may be others.

Just been talking to the better half and her and our eldest are now coming to the Millwall game with Betsy and I. I shall enjoy spooking the lot of them with tales of haunting and ghosts as we drive home through Eccleshall ! I like it, Tel. I like it! Hmmmm........ .......as it will be dark when you're driving back home through Eccy, would you like a couple of us to throw white sheets over ourselves and creep about in the undergrowth bordering the road???!!! Just say the word!

We can wear our PFPF polo shirts under our sheets (which I'll provide as I'm partial to the '500 threads count' stuff.) 'Ang on a min..... let's just check with Chuff....... Chuff! Can you get yourself up 'ere a week on Satdee, squire? Tel's got an assignment for us! Oh, and can you pls practise saying 'wooooo' in the meantime, TA

Blimey what havoc have I called down on myself now lol what a cracking idea! Only issue I have post match is the girls are usually ravenous so may well encourage to me run the ghosties and ghoulies over to enable the rush to the takeaway!
And to use a classic panto gag, I don't want to get grabbed by the ghosties and I CERTAINLY don't want to be grabbed by the ghoulies....!

Make sure you curve the head parts lads, any pointy bits and you could be confused with the KKK and that would be very unfortunate.

Great work Fel. Yes, Broughton Hall re the ghost & the blood stain, not Brocton. I had a schoolmate whose aunty was a cleaner there, Murph, which is how I knew about it (even if failing memory told me it was Brocton ...) Andrew / Werewolf - he was a second-cousin of mine. The family thought he'd got into dru9s & necromancy. A sad, sad tale; in all likelihood he was possibly suffering from some form of mental illness but the support for that kind of thing just wasn't there in those days, especially in small rural communities. The family never really talked about him much after his death.
If I weren't so well-mannered an' respectful I'd now tell that joke about 'I used to think I was a werewolf, but I'm much better nowwwwwooooooooooowwwwwwwww' I have regular dreams that I'm turning into a werewolf. Mrs Q is forever battering me in the middle of the night & shouting "you're bloody howling in your sleep again". Perfectly normal, I'd say - apparently the sign of a self-destrucive personality. But why I jump into a JCB & start digging holes in the road whilst being a werewolf, no-one's ever been able to explain to me. Perhaps I'm going for a modernised method of burying bones.

Brilliant! Well done! Thanks and well done for tracing back and finding that thread, Froggy --- that is precisely the one I referred to c. a couple of weeks ago - I said if I could find it I'd nudge it because there were some amazing posts/reports of members' ghostly experiences on it - but I couldn't find it. Very grateful to you for the link!
