After the initial bounce MON has discovered if he wasn’t aware of just what a spineless bunch of self-deluded squad he has to work with and how much work it is going to need to get us out of this mostly self-inflicted hole we are in. I hate negativity but what else is there after the players reverted very much to type over the last few games. The manager is on a very tough learning curve and if he can turn this debacle of a club around over the next 6 months he deserves the freedom of the city. We have a collection of players with a few exceptions who believe they are Premiership footballers merely slumming It on the slopes of oblivion once more. what do most of these bottlers see when they watch the games back I am guessing someone else making mistakes and putting in little effort to correct them. The supporters have been through this before well older ones like myself have at least, younger ones who arrived during the halcyon days of a decade in the Premier league must be wondering what the hell is going on. I really hope O’ Neill can somehow turn it around and at least guide us to safety over the next few months but any talk about a return to the top flight is as far away right now as it was back at the turn of the century.
We look like a rudderless ship sailing towards the rocks while all those in command pretend its 2014 and all is well. We have defenders who make the same comical mistakes game in game out and it never seems to be knocked out of them no matter who takes charge or who guides them in training which surely means one simple truth they are simply garbage or so baffled by being a defender they should hang up their collective boots now. The Keystone Cops are competent compared to our clueless defenders. The shocking lack of pace and power in the side is criminal, ability without power and pace in a modern football side is unthinkable but apparently not in our backroom geniuses. When they do find someone who seems to have it they usually have the attitude of a minor Royal happy to live a feckless life without putting in the slightest effort to justify their privileged position. Nathan Jones brought a new team here in the summer and can anyone believe any but a few would even make the bench if we are going to change this. Cousins, what the hell did he have on Jones, had he caught him stealing from an unconscious priest or molesting a sheep behind the training ground years earlier.
Some might think bring in the kids they can’t do much worse but who they hell wants talented youngsters learning off most of this shower what a wonderful education in how a footballer shouldn’t conduct themselves most of the time.
I hope MON has a stomach for a long hard fight because that is what lies before him and us and we need battlers and hard as nails characters to shake this squad to its foundations and bring the best out in those who want to perform and kick those who don’t into touch and let them watch how it should be done. Please MON don’t play players on reputation because most of this lot’s reputations have been flushed down the toilet bowl with their ability, play those who show they can do it now not who looked like they could do it before. If a few egos must be battered and bruised tough luck if you were good enough we would be in the top 6 not the bottom 3 it’s time some home truths were told and if that mean some throw their toys out the pram, simple go stink another club out and don’t let the door hit you on the backside as you leave. The supporters deserve so much more and we now need to demand it.

Good words Ted and I’m fully in agreement. We can moan about the CEO, owners, managers etc but right now it’s the spineless bunch of overpaid loafers on the pitch that are letting us down time and time again.
It’s about time the fans let the players know our thoughts. Our frustration is not aimed at the managerial team but the so called top players at Stoke City.
You’re not fit to wear the shirt... ? Too right they’re not.

The players and the upper management need the stick. They've sat and watched this rubbish come to fruition! This squad is crap. We saw it ages ago, why can't they, along with overseeing these stupid contracts! Scandalous! They deserve all the stick they get!

I have a feeling that the next three games in the first fortnight of December will be crucial. If we get 6 or 7 points from Hull, Luton and Reading then we can start to look up the table. If we get less than 3, I think we’ll be fucked before Christmas.

Football is not like life
In life you can be unlucky ...visit any hospital or hospice
In football you get what you deserve
The team that scores the most goals always wins
The team that scores the least ,always loses
We are in the relegation zone , because that's where we deserve to be

It's the stench of entitlement. We've got some toxic players who really believe the should be playing in the premier league and owners who think they are knowledgable football people.

Yesterday was the day when I finally accepted just how shit we really are and the almost inevitability of relegation this season. I had a faint optimism when MON was appointed that he was maybe a manager who could organise a bunch of journeymen footballers into a difficult to beat team, that optimism was blown out of the water yesterday. We really are an absolute shit show of a team.

Personally I don't think the players are not trying and they think they are above this league, unfortunately they aren't that good.
If you look at the starting lining up on Saturday :
- none of the front 3 were with us in the premier league or where regular members of a premier league side before coming to us . Fringe players at best with West Brom , Aston Villa , Huddlesfield.
- the 3 in midfield only Joe Allen was with us and neither Clucas or Woods were premier league starters in fact Woods has never player at that level to my knowledge.
- The back four only Martins Indi played for us in the premier league and Ward at Burnley, the other 2 are championship players at best,
- Jack prior to his ankle injury was an exceptional keeper who has played a big part in our demise . As his form has slumped so have we because we were defending as badly if not worse under Hughes and if not for Butland and Grant we would have ended up losing by 5 or 6 every second week.
This rot started a long time ago and it has been added to by Rowett and Jones.
I did not add Lambert to the Hughes , Rowett and Jones crew because he actually stiffened us up albeit at the expense of attacking play.
The players are good enough to avoid relegation this season and at best mid table the year after, but they will never get us promoted.
O'Neill unlike Jones is not living in a world of theory and whether it be 4/3/3 or 4/4/2 he will land on a formation that best suits the current squad and get enough points to avoid relegation.
I say 4/3/3 or 4/4/2 because that's his stated preference.
O'Neill can't be blamed for this sorry mess , hopefully he will gets us clear of relegation a month or so before and gets the opportunity to blood a few of the under 23's to see if they have what it takes to build a young side for the future around.
Rome want built in a day and our current plight won't be sorted out quickly.
Let's just hope there are more good days and less days like Saturday in the future.

An earlier post stated Etebo left the ground at 13:45 on Saturday - we don't know the reason. However, with no reserve games being played, shouldn't the non playing squad members watch ever match with a member of the coaching team to help them analyse the problems (and few good) areas, which can then be worked on in training? As a mere supporter, this appears basic to me.

Do the players believe they are Premier League players? Or do many of them actually think the Premier League is either behind or beyond them and there's little point straining every sinew to get there? There seems to be a lack of conviction and motivation.
No one wants to think that players are in it solely for the money, but I've heard some clubs have things called win bonuses. Presumably they believe this is a motivating factor (else why would they do it?). Maybe our club should look into this concept.

Not the first time that sort of thing has happened but interesting that he wasn't on the bench. My guess is that he isn't regarded as being fit yet, but I'm surprised he drove off.
