It’s beginning to look more and more like the manager is not the problem. Not the only problem.

It’s beginning to look more and more like the manager is not the problem. Depends which manager. We have had a multitude of rank bad signings from the last four managers. Ranging from expensive Harrods to Lidl free transfers. I'm absolutely sure a good manager would save us from relegation with what we have available now though.

The decision to play Carter Vickers at right back at home baffles me and not to play Badou and Etebo also seems odd. He’s got to see all his players I agree but today’s selection was bizzare

More and more it looks like a club strategy to be relegated. MON comes in and plays players in the correct places with two up top. Cue panic. We look like a good side. Suddenly our wankest players are selected, play them out of position and put one up top. Aaaah thats better - back on course.

Resigned to a spell in League One now. Third one under Peter Coates and Son, mind.

Yeah, agree with a lot of that. Whilst it is good to see some players reintroduced, you soon realise why some were ostracised in the first place. I do feel for MON because he’s literally picking what he deems the best turds from a collection of humongous shits. Learning on the job in our position is never a good thing. I’m just hoping he’s taking everything on game by game and realising what he can and can’t do with what’s on offer. That said, why our managers are so reluctant to play two up front continues to baffle me. We are nowhere near good enough in either box to play as a fluid attacking side or a tight defensive one. It’s been a mess for 18 months in this league and still is. It’s a dull insipid mess with zero quality so if I was MON I’d go 4-4-2 and put two wingers on and put balls into the box for Diouf and AN other to attack. Which two wingers would you put on that we aren't already playing? And which AN other can you find for us for the next game? Then finally what will you do when Diouf runs out of steam after 10-15 minutes in the first half? Your tone is so fucking weird all the time. I’m just suggesting a basic approach in the hope of something good coming from it. If the ball is in their box, it’s more likely we’ll score but every manager since we got relegated seems more obsessed with having the ball and doing nothing with it. Diouf is a threat in the box so get the ball in. I’d probably go McClean and Ince with their remit being simply getting the ball in the box wherever possible.

It’s beginning to look more and more like the manager is not the problem. It’s not all the manager, but all Jones signings were shit and his tactics. So he brought most of it on himself. Today bringing in Vokes worries me. Win 2 games then start changing the team worries me, unless it’s because for injuries or suspensions . Roll on May!!

It’s beginning to look more and more like the manager is not the problem. Not the only problem. I think this is why fans were reluctant to give jones too much stick on match days, they understand that yes, he’s doing poorly, but the problems run deeper and you can’t really just blame him for it.

Today was genuinely the first game when I thought - we are going down Ive thought it for a while now mate to be honest,we’re just not a team but a group of individuals unfortunately Particularly with Jones philosophy of 2 players competing for every position, this invites very selfish play in order to impress Hardly conducive to playing as a team We need to try and offload as many players as possible even at knock down prices or accept that a certain number will not feature at all and work with the others Can this work without destroying the club?

The thing is, he's played for the Dutch national team over 30 times so he cannot be that bad can he? Last played at that level in 2016 (when he got sent off). Coincidentally, 2016 is the year he first came to Stoke. Maybe it's us that's the problem? Can't be that bad? He's as bad a centre back as I've seen down stoke. I watched him closely all game. Constantly given simple passes away. And that second goal! I'd seriously have wimmer back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm not arguing with that mate, just wondering how international players somehow turn to shite when they come here.

No mention of indi? One of the worst players ever to play for stoke? The thing is, he's played for the Dutch national team over 30 times so he cannot be that bad can he? Last played at that level in 2016 (when he got sent off). Coincidentally, 2016 is the year he first came to Stoke. Maybe it's us that's the problem? Been meaning to mention this. For a while now we've been signing players with a decent reputation and record, yet as son as they get here they turn into dogshit. Plus, all the pundits and other fans reckon we should be at least comfortable, if not challenging, in this league. It all leads me to believe that there's something about the setup at Stoke that turns decent players into crap players. Any thoughts?

For some reason our Board have decided to appoint as manager some bloke with no experience who won’t even give up his other job in order to devote his full attention to us. Is it any wonder it already looks like a disastrous decision. 'Already looks a disastrous decision' put your dummy back in! He's won 2/4 so far - yes today was terrible & yes the manager had a 'mare, but that's a massive over reaction! As another poster said, it's frustrating to see him making the same mistakes Rowett & Jones made with regards to team selection, but it only will become a problem if he doesn't learn from it & makes the same mistakes over & over, like his predecessors did. It's premature to start suggesting it's a disastrous appointment when the blokes had 4 games & no transfer window yet either! That's Arsenal-esque whinging that is!

Motivation of the players is the problem.
Motivation is the manager’s job.
It was obvious when the bloke’s name was first mentioned that he wouldn’t be able to motivate our players.

He motivated the NI team pretty well, didn’t he ? albeit took him awhile to get into his stride. He has to be given time, can’t expect him to come in and remedy all the problems within a few short weeks. I agree he shouldn’t be double dealing with the Ireland job, he should have 1 focus now, stoke city.

Hate to say it but warned on his appointment it was a horrendous risk when far more hardened championship managers were available ,
Out managed by Mowbray and Harris in a week . Idea of preparation we need more crosses so let’s just lash it a static vokes from anywhere Horrendously I’ll prepared team show in selection , yesterday and Tuesday I warned allen and Woods is a disaster , even worse with Dack around Utter lottery picks of subs and tactics in both games Clear agenda on certain players Badou , Where was Etebo , Nonsensical comments on Woods , Diouf over the two weeks Sheer stupidity on saying we need quality crosses then playing carter vickers with two proper right backs available Record now is as good as Jones last 4 games Hopelessly out of his Depth Along with dour billy who apparently doesn’t suffer fools gladly people who live in glass houses springs to mind Today had relegation all over dead cat bounce complete and next stage free fall ready for lift off at hull , no improvement all all , joker played and yet again the process and the jerk that runs it have delivered nothing but failure at huge extra cost .

We're full of players who think they're too big for this league, and/or just picking up a pay cheque.

The bubble has burst for O'Neill - 2 wins against very poor teams have been followed by 2 deserved losses against mid table sides. He’s not coming back. How many times do you need to be batted down like a baseball cap toting whack-a-mole.

Just because he's good at the one doesn't follow he'd be the right man for us. I'm hoping to be proved wrong but he's got nothing in his CV remotely similar to the job he needs to do with us.
