Flying to Jfk in December, can anyone tell me what American Airlines are like? Thanks. are you flying LHR>JFK? I'm a Delta frequent flyer and their service and planes (on some routes) has improved over the years. AA has due to financial woes not progressed - their fleet is dated and the last time I flew them (Apr) it wasn't so great. Virgin (new Airbus) and Delta (new interior) have the edge on LHR>JFK especially premium economy.

Pretty much like BA.
Fairly standard cabins and with poor food! I would get yourself fed before you fly because the inflight food is not great (whichever cabin class you are in).
Similar to BA they do still have a few of the more "mature" cabin crew who no doubt they are waiting to leave (again same as BA!). If you get some of those working on your flight it can be fun to people watch.
Enjoy NY

I would echo 'stillgame'. Cabin Crew on long haul were all older ladies. Having spent most of my time flying with Asian airlines where ageism is rife it was a bit of a shock to experience the AA and KLM crews. Internally AA crews were younger. I flew them a few times a few years ago and wasn't too impressed. Just average with nothing that puts them above their rivals. If they were a dog AA would be 'Old Shep'.

Flying to Jfk in December, can anyone tell me what American Airlines are like? Thanks. Utter shite mate. Huge name of course but worse than most in The we don’t give a shit about you stakes. I have used them more times than I can remember, purely due to specific destinations, and occasionally the price or a lack of options. However, given a choice, I would never bother again. You did ask.......

Was over there this time last year with them, plane out of Manchester was 2 1/2 hours late so missed the connection at Philadelphia, arriving in Florida 6 hours late, 1AM into the hotel and also missing the transfer. Coming back JFK to Heathrow no problems. On the flights were fine, food, drink was quite sufficient, pillows blankets for each person etc.
Also went Miami to La Guardia in New York no problems, although most Americans seem to diss them like we do Ryanair

Flew transatlantic with them 20 odd years ago and they were shockingly bad . The stewardesses were all 50 + tired and disinterested. Flying to Orlando for xmas supposedly with virgin but on closer inspection the itinerary says " Delta by virgin " so I'm assuming it's some sort of marketing tie up .

If it's non-stop MAN>MCO it's Virgin and maybe ticketed on Delta as they code share? They fly the very old 747-400 which is in it's last year of service next year. If you can afford for the upgrade to Premium Economy (don't bother with Upper) it's well worth it. I fly the same on JFK>MAN next year and the PE seats upstairs in the bubble are great. Nice and quiet, wide aisle and seat plus if you get a window a nice storage bin next to your seat.

I really hate the BA "One World Alliance" flights. I've always found BA to be okay, not a patch on the likes of Emirates, Etihad or Singapore but fairly solid. However some of the companies in their "alliance" are utter dog shit, I once paid BA prices and ended up on a flight from the DFW to MAN that had no inflight entertainment, limited drinks and snacks instead of a meal and cramped 1990s style seating. I'm very careful to check that they haven't sneaked in an el crappo partner into the booking when searching these days. Flying east is far better than west options wise.

Enjoy! I hope it's a better experience for you than for me ;-) Can't be any worse than Bahamasair I flew on 1-2-GO in Thailand about six months before their massive crash in Phuket a few years back. It was a truly hair raising experience. The pilots pretty much aimed the nose cone at the runway and accelerated towards it before pulling up at the last minute. It was made even more of an "experience" as they defaulted and locked all the screens onboard to the nose camera. I had a very large measure of SangSom in the arrivals lounge to recover!

Missed our American Airlines connection. Literally spent 48 hours in the airport at Philly. We could not get a connection for love nor money and they really didn't give a shit. We were given a voucher each for $12 to buy a meal. It was about the cost of a shit dry sandwich. 2 nights in a scummy fleabag Clarion hotel ( total shit hole), after arguing with the scumbags to cover the cost of our accommodation. What a shit airline...........

A lot better than the coin grabbing fuckwits at TAP Airlines who took an extra £600 off me for an extra flight for spelling error I believe they made and refused to correct.

Can't be any worse than Bahamasair We still say " If you have time to spare, fly Bahamasair"........... I used to dread getting the red eye from Miami as I wasn't unusual to get bumped off even though you had a reservation . If a friend of a friend turned up at the check in with no booking they could always get on at some poor buggers expense , happened too me once , they issue you with a boarding card with no seat number number , by the time you run back to the desk it's all locked up for the night 😀
