Given him some stick for a long time, however his crossing seemed to have improved no end last game which was my biggest frustration as he seemed to just hit it hard and low all the time. However now he's in his natural position and that side of his game had picked up, he seems so much better.

I think a fair few people are warming to McClean, Like our favourite Irishman (Scouse) just like Walters McClean has his limitations but he puts a shift in and plays for the team also he is well liked in the dressing room, now the shit that followed him has all but disappeared I can see McClean becoming a Favourite. I love how the opposition fans give him flack because it just fires him up even more. I know he won't win everyone over but the guy gives his all for Stoke.

4 good games in 55 appearances. Two of them recently. He's on the up, got to be good for us. No kneejerk or anything. MOM against Wigan definitely.

He's shown recently that there can be more to his game than just blood, sweat and tears and MON seems to have recognised it straight away.

H I think you could say 4 good games in 55 (or the same ratio) for most of our players. Allen certainly fits into that category imho. I think some of us are making a big thing of McClean's performance because it has been so rare in the last 2/3 years that we have seen a player really exert such a strong influence on a single game as we saw on Saturday. He really imposed himself on the opposition.

I wasn't happy when we signed McClean, with his age and pretty poor scoring record but I have to say I was wrong.
Players like him and Gregory are desperately what you need when the going gets rough, vital to our balance.

H I think that's a perfectly balanced way of looking at it. By no means am I a McClean fan, but he was excellent against Wigan & you have to give credit where it's due. Someone on twitter suggested he's been our player of the year so far, which is possibly the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. he's been pretty awful for the most part, but again, excellent against Wigan. I would be more than willing to eat humble pie if he can replicate that performance on a consistent basis!

O'Neill is right to say he can improve on his finishing.

Looks far more assured and competent since he has been played in his natural position, strange that makes you wonder why that idiot Jones couldn't work out the most basic elements of putting a team together, what a disaster of a manager he was for us.

Other than the Poppy issue which I personally think is silly, I dont think there is any reason why people would dislike McClean, we have had fair worse playing for Stoke and for me I think he is close to player of the season taking in to account he is not a defender, give me 11 Players who give there all like he does, said it before he could become a favourite with more games like the Wigan game.

Impossible to dislike mcclean, when you have wimmer and imbula in the squad I like him a lot more now that he’s not being played at left back by a clueless manager. And MON says he’s fit for today’s game. Bosh! Now if only we could get the same work rate and productivity from Ince on a consistent basis...

It's come to something when kwe're praying McClean is fit to play... From zero to hero in the blink of an eye, but well deserved from his last couple of outings. Let's hope such performances continue.

Proves he shouldn't be a defender! Has he been watching Jack in training? On a day of abject incompetence and misery that’s actually uplifting to see that at least one of our squad and management has at their core something to admire and inspire well done James

Pulled it right out today@! 4/56 H He was no worse then anyone else today. And in my view considerably better than most ( not that that was difficult) Not at his best today but does a few things that the majority of his team mates dont; Runs TOWARDS the opponents goal with the ball. Shows effort and commitment Actually looks like he gives a shit. His Mrs has just tweeted that she loves to sit in front of the fire on a Saturday night and watch TV with James, but he's in his freezing cold garage on an exercise bike instead.
