Sinclair would make sense. We need wide players and he isn't a regular up there anymore. Very good player at this level.

Nearly 31, on the downturn and so reliant on pace Didn't realise he was so old tbh, bring back Verlinden then. McClean is dependable I think if we bring back Verlinden it'd be a nice option, someone trickier who cuts in, gives us something different. I'd be then looking at some cover on the right I guess, someone who is a bit more chalk on the boots, different to Ince. Young and fast.

x1jlf: I believe Mon knows exactly the strength of all the Aberdeen players including the winger Niall McGinn of Aberdeen who he has watched on numerous occasions and who has been to major tournaments with his boss of NI. Mon lives in Edinburgh and has been to Pittodrie many times. Markby: Indeed. And on the basis of his Irish surname, Michael enquired to see whether he qualified for NI. (Though probably says more about his existing options lol) x1jlf: A manager who buys a Player for £25K and turns him into a £5Million top striker in 2 seasons would do well at Stoke. MON has never done that and that's why he worries me. Markby: Michael didn't have £25k top spend at either Cowdenbeath, Brechin or Shamrock Rovers. But he took that last team of (then) part-timers into the group stage of the Europa League - a first for League of Ireland football. x1jlf: Germany gave MON a leason last night and I think we may see that here at Stoke a few times. MON is one dimensional IMO and his historical management credentials are far less attractive e than some we could have had. Markby: I was at that game (I assume you weren't). I was also there four days previously NI gained a home draw with a resurgent Holland, and would likely have won had Davis not missed a 1st half penalty, when we (NI) were all over them. The difference was that with the second game being now a dead rubber, our motivation obviosly suffered. More to the point, between the two games, we lost our EPL Left Back, Lewis of Norwich, and had to replace him with Ferguson, a LWB currently warming the bench at Millwall. We also lost our best CB, Evans from Leicester, and had to replace him with Tom Flanagan of Sunderland. In addition, we also lost Dallas, an absolute standout at RB for Bielsa's Leeds this season and replace him with Smith of Hearts, a 31 y.o. winning his 8th(?) cap. Which was only the defence! Many of the players who played in midfield/attack vs Holland are not regulars with their clubs, none of which is in the EPL btw. Meaning two games in 4 days against outstanding opposition was too much to cope with. As for MO'N being "one dimensional", I don't know where to start on that, and probably won't live long enough to complete my reply if I did!x1jlf: Better option for Stoke board would have been to buy Aberdeen FC it would only cost them about £50Million and somewhere to put the surplus players and get some real coaching from a real manager. Markby: Every NI player he's ever worked with, from EPL to to League Two praises his coaching and management. E.G. here is what Jonny Evans said after we won away to Czech Republic, shortly after the Czechs beat (ahem) England: "Michael has got us playing in a great shape with flexibility in our system," link (Sorry for the messy post - haven't figured out the multi-quote option on this site yet [img src="//storage.proboards.com/800541/images/fwGSRilBFZwfei5Q6XIp.gif" alt=" " class="smile"] )

So after 3 games and 2 wins, I don't expect you to change your opinion, but don't you think it would be wise to keep your powder dry and actually give the guy a chance to prove you right (or, more probably, wrong)?

I think even Alan Turing would struggle with this. I've taken a look and come to the conclusion that it's written in the complete bollocks code. It's quite common on here.

Remember that thing about an infinite number of monkeys typing for an infinite time would eventually produce the entire works of Shakespeare? Well this is what you get when you only have 1 posting on the Oatcake!

But your talking bollocks. You have your opinion I have mine. No need to get aggressive. Sign of stress. I hope I am wrong but the bounce was natural the next steps not so easy. Our players are not playing for their Country. They are not even worried about money because they have that. Unless he clears the deck and BUYS heavy in next 2 windows we are stuck in this league.

I’d be amazed if he couldn’t find a better offer - our spending capacity is limited and our prospects are dismal.

The only players I can see us attracting are those who've played under O'Neill for Ireland

I said the above before the Blackburn game and got shitted on for doing so. On the subject of getting Cosgrove from Aberdeen. Mon will need to get us up the league a bit before he would be daft enough to come. He is a premier league quality striker and he will have options January.

Markby Niall McGinn is a NI International. Who plays on wing for Aberdeen FYI and a dead ball expert. Stoke could do with him putting some crossed in. The rest of your comments are obviously with Rose tinted glasses. I wish I had your confidence.

Worth much more IMO. Will go to very top. Big, fast, skilful, great header of ball and most importantly still young and knows where the goal is.

I think you could link Messi right now and it wouldn’t make any difference. In form players come here and turn shite within weeks.
Never mind bringing players in (except a left back) we need to ship a few out.
A lot of the players have been very capable at Chumpionship level in the past, they just need motivating(good luck with that one Michael).

Started at Everton as a kid. Good character, nice humble guy and IMO he could do a job in Premiership Aberdeen will not need to let him go. Niall McGinn from Aberdeen who Mon knows as he is a NI international is a winger we should look at as well.
