Personally, I thought that parking his(Pieters) car in Mr Coates's spot(according to Crouchie) showed a complete lack of respect. He'd already been out with his other'alf knowing that he would be caught on film for her series when he shouldn't've been, another act of disrespecting Club orders. As for Bardo, well, I bet he's probably had his moments too. Both of them were capable of having howlers of matches. The idea was to sort out the ones who couldn't care less about our plight I thought. Well, we may've left ourselves short of a LB here and there but I'd rather that than have potential p!ss takers amongst the squad.

Bardsley played his first League game of the season for Burnley yesterday and Pieters was dropped. Pieters was hooked at half time last week, after being at fault for two of Sheffield United's goals. People didn't stop droning on about Walter's despite him being injured virtually all the time after he left us.

Bardsley and Pieters are better than any of our current fullbacks and that's a fact No not a fact! It is an opinion A correct one nevertheless!

No not a fact! It is an opinion I think its an opinion that is shared by the great majority of people who are paid to manage football teams. It still doesn't make it a fact!

So have we forgotten the blatant disrespect Eric showed to our chairman which was symptomatic of the respect the squad had for the club that was paying their wages? No way as chairman would I have kept him on. We moan about lack of discipline and then when it fits our agenda criticise the club for getting rid of players who flout the rules. He's not that good.

It's clear that we have monumentally ballsed up replacing him, but the vast majority of people couldn't wait to be rid of Pieters - he'd been shite for absolutely ages.

Why is it so many people say present players are crap till they go and play for another club?
We seemed to forget that with former FBs we had the worst defence in the Prem. and regularly shipped 4 goals which we have hardly done since they left.

Maybe but with Bardsley, it was him or Johnson and Johnson had been awful and was also on a similar sort of wage if not bigger you would imagine. It never made any sense to keep him over Bardsley. Letting Pieters go was just a massive fuck up. I donโt care if he shagging Mrs Coates nevermind park in the old fellas space. He was the best left back we had and not having a left back has played a big role in where we are now. Both just odd. Probably because nobody bid for Johnson but somebody offered ยฃ1.5m for Bardsley We didnโt need that money though really and did we give Johnson a contract extension?

Seems it was case of keeping one of them Letโs not rewrite misty eyed history though as this mb was full of threads Slaughtering Bardsley as a liability and not good enough etc

Getting rid of Johnson was the only option and they totally fucked it up. I said it at the time and it was pretty obvious tbh. Johnson couldnโt run anymore by that point.

It shows how badly this club has been managed, neither wanted to leave our club but manager said they were not needed? I personally think they would have been a major difference in where we are in the league, both are in the team, squad, for Burnley, instead we are left with Tom fu****g Edwards, who is shite, and Stephen Ward. I don't think Edwards is shite, but Bardsley is without doubt a much better player. I've said it many times, "keeping Johnson and getting rid of Barnsley was a major mistake by Hughes!" Selling Pieters without replacing him with a decent alternative was another major mistake, but by NJ. Loaning Bauer to Celtic and then spending ยฃ4M on Smith was another mistake by Jones in my opinion. Not very impressed by NJ and his transfers policy in general, and not impressed by his talk and stats either. Too full of himself is my impression of him to be honest.

Speaking as a manager, one thing you have to do to establish your credibility when taking over a new business is go in and change some things. It is necessary to implant in people's minds that there is a new regime and things are going to change for the better. Jones made a mistake with Pieters. He clearly went I with the intent of replacing older players and instilling a better attitude. He found lots of old players of course but he could not move on many, but managed with Crouch, Martina, and Pieters. Pieters was clearly a mistake as he soon found that he did not have an effective replacement. He made the changes and made the mistake of not improving things for the better and actually made things worse, as did Rowett.

A lad I know plays in a tuesday night game that has a lot of ex pro's playing in. He's good mates with Bardsley and that's how he got involved. You may or may not have seen Bardo actually reference this game on Soccer AM only last week.
Anyway, he said Pieters turned up a few weeks back and was absolutely dog shit haha.
John O'Shea's been playing the odd time recently, there's a few other stoke connections too that get involved.

I knew Pieters was going to be good as soon as I read he had missed several games having badly cut his hand punching a glass picture frame on a dressing room corridor wall in a fit of bad temper after a game. I thought that's my kind of no nonsense player

The trsatemet of pieters post relegation was bizzarre. It's the kind of decision that explains why we are where we are. That and flogging Bardsley fr peanuts so we could give Glen Johnson another contract despite him no longer being able to walk.
