I mean, in the grand scheme of things it’s probably inconsequential, but I do wonder how they pick their first squad if they’ve only been here a day. Woods and Diouf were nowhere to be seen for months on end so has he picked a squad just based on yesterday or do the staff/players already here have a word in his ear and say these lads are good enough to play? I'm sure Delap had a lot to do with the selection, even if O'Neill had the final word.

Does it matter in the EFL though? It kind of says the EFL: Stoke City have submitted the list of allocated squad numbers to the EFL ahead of the start of the 2019/20 Championship season against Queens Park Rangers tomorrow So yes I think it matters, I think we should delete these threads before a Barnsley fan finds it We submitted squad numbers..in old language we submitted shirt numbers. There is no such thing as a squad list outside the premier league. If you are a contracted player you can play whenever the manager wants you to play

Jérémie Bela made his debut as a substitute for Birmingham today and he only signed for them this week. I can’t see this Diouf thing being an issue.

Having not moved Diouf on, it was ridiculous to freeze him out.

Diouf will be a revelation at wide right in a front 3 once he gets his fitness and confidence back. Also adds a LOT defensively that Ince never does. A totally overlooked fair point............ Hope he is!

There are only 21 in that list that would have to be named in the 25, and if you have a contracted player (over age) he has to be in the 25 if he is still at the club as you can't save spots for free agents. so although may not have been in Jones plans, as that list only has 21 of age players he would have had to go on the list so no problems either way

Wasn't really impressed with Woods today, particularly when he turned his back for their first goal. As for Diouf, it doesn't really matter if he was frozen out by Jones; he's been rubbish pretty much since he got here and he doesn't possess the ability to improve, whoever the manager is. Greystokie as in joyless dull fucker? Christ almighty.

If we had a time machine Diouf would be head and shoulders above our other strikers. Almost 32 though so not sure how much he has left in his legs.

4-2 win and can't find positives to speak about. That really isn't the point. I was responding to a post that specifically related to Woods and Diouf not one on today's result. I'm delighted with today's result but it doesn't change the fact that Woods turned in a lacklustre performance and Diouf has been poor for a very long time Take look at the likes my friend. A day for celebration.

Benik Afobe is in that list though Wonder if Afobe will feature under O'Neill when he's recovered from injury. Could be an interesting proposition if he can utilise Afobe in a way that saw him sharp & scoring goals in his spell at Bristol C..

Once gets his fitness back, WTF has he been doing for the last six months, watching Tele?? He gets paid bundles so whether he plays or not he should be fit. The real reason this donkey wasn’t in the squad is because he’s crap. He a can run fast, so can my dog but doesn’t mean he can play football. His ability is and always will be poor.

Played well Bayern. One thing you tend to notice with Woods in the midfield is that he does try to get it forward as often as possible. He's certainly not a sideway player. Hit a couple of good cross balls to the left wing for McClean. Hes definitely a positive influence when he plays and, when on form, is a top midfielder in this league. This is like his third debut now at Stoke and yet again he was a revelation. Now needs some consistency, definite hope for him yet at Stoke.

Diouf should be nowhere near the first team. He's still got a wank touch and he can't finish and his cameo proved that.
