Apart from the obvious (38 games of torment)
But why sack a manager when there is no replacement lined up? I'm not saying we would have got anything from the game, but without a manager it was complete surrender from start to finish.
Just to clarify the question is about the timing not the manager.
He should have been either sacked either immediately after the Millwall game, after this game, or just before an appointment.
Anything else is just plain ludicrous.

Yeah definitely a surrender why sack a manager that CAN'T WIN A GAME. Ridiculous. I don't care what fucking day it is the guy had to go.

Because we where about to approach Preston for their manager. Something you can't keep quiet and so the manager had to be gone before we could do that.

it's fucking shambolic. A multi million pound company knows it is sacking one of the key employees without having a replacement lined up!

Odds are Jones knew before Friday. The players seemed to have been given the week off. The club is a farce.

Because we are a complacent, clueless and inept club from the top downwards, first we delay sacking the man when everyone knows he’s lost it big time and then we sack him with no replacement in mind. Indefensible management, incompetent and embarrassing.

Myself and many others on here were saying the right time to sack jones was after the Brum loss, it was the perfect time, we had an international break and we weren’t cut adrift, we could still have attracted a decent manager, now we can’t even get Preston’s manager in to do the job, we’re f’ed!!!

They sacked the manager on Friday and had nobody lined up because they haven't learned a single lesson from last time.
They are utterly useless. The lot of them.

Simple answer - because it was the absolute worst time to sack him in terms of having the most disruptive impact on the club, and that’s how we roll. We do everything in the most destructive way possible. It’s who we are now as a club. Potential new managers must be licking their lips at the prospect of aiming to Stoke....

We are run by absolute morons and we are still surprised by how operates: It’s amazing how they can’t see what is under their noses, supporters on here could smell relegation coming under Hughes a full season and half before it came, it was blatantly obvious yet they dithered, now they’ve waited till we’re rock bottom of the league when it was apparent weeks ago jones was in over his head.

My entirely optimistic but likely unrealistic answer is the board do have a plan & the new prospective manager will be appointed in the coming days with something having been agreed last week.. The board had a panic moment that should it of been we beat WBA tonight as we did in the games v Swansea & then Fulham that it would have looked dodge & bizarre sacking Jones after a victory against another top of the table team & the board decided to act on Friday to prevent this scenario happening.
It does seem crazy & it's likely the board have panic sacked him in bizarre cirqs but you never do know these days..

Quite a few on here had seen enough of Jones last season. Why did we have to go three months into the new season for the penny to drop?
