Actually not a match related thread , hence in EE, and forgive me the indulgence, but for those of you that know me on here and may be attending the game or watching on tv on Monday night, my daughter Betsy is mascot vs WBA tomorrow, so will be in the match programme, warming up on the pitch and running out with the team. Big moment for her , and me actually, so if you’re there tomorrow, give the mascots an xtra big cheer . She’s very excited so hope that’ll give them an extra bounce. We apparently get sandwiches and chips too

My lad was going to be mascot some years back against West Brom the night the wind was trying to blow the stadium down and the match got cancelled. We won 4:1 in the replayed match so hopefully it's a good sign. Enjoy In the original match at Oneish the ref had the goalkeepers taking goal kicks. When they eventually got to take one (the ball wouldn't stay on the line) the ball was whacked into the air turned around mid air and came straight back

There is no handbook on parenting but she must have something really aweful to be punished this way. I have seen harsh time in Telford before but this goes down as what they call cruel and unusual punishment in this country.

My daughters were Yeovil Town mascots for an away match at Vale Park about 15 years ago.
To be fair to Vale, the hospitality they laid on was super and girls had a great time. And I think we (Yeovil) won the match too.

A colleague of mines kid was mascot for Brizol City at our place the other month & they loved that they got Oatcakes, so chip & sandwiches seems a bit lame.

While you're there, could you possibly, in a quiet moment, if you've nothing else going on at the time, ask for an answer to a question that's puzzled me for a long time? Why has Pottermus got bigger tits than his missus? Cheers

She had a lovely time thanks despite the game lol, went out with Smith and the club looked after her and us very well. No chips but sarnies and oatcakes, and sadly the Pottermus tits mystery remains unsolved

Glad she enjoyed it, Telford. She looked like she was beaming on the tv.
I think you'll need to reassure her that the team's performance on the pitch had nothing to do with her being mascot.
And maybe that she shouldn't get disheartened about being a Stokie. The time will certainly come when we'll play better and look more likely to win. E.g. any match that's postponed.

Thank you, she was ok with it, disappointed they didn’t score which would at least have helped her night. Muppet of the day goes to my father in law aka “Mr Knows the UK motorway network like the back of his hand” - we were home at 1040 and by 1120 a bit worried where the hell he was. Apparently it’s an easy mistake to take the M6 North not south . A cracking day though and thanks to you all for kind words , very much appreciated. She’s gone school today with the new kit , autographs and some photos and god willing (sorry sounded all Nathan then!] will want to sleep early tonight lol. Next game for us is Blackburn Can make a start now on the 1.25kg of toffees they kindly gave us, will get the dentist on speed dial just in case

Oh, a VERY small mistake --- I'm sure other people must have done it at some time or other..... Glad Betsy had such a wonderful time as a mascot, Tel. If the toffees are Walkers (made in SoT - a great and very, very old family business) they'll be delicious and you won't be able to stop eating them, esp. the Treacle Toffee ones - but watch they don't have all your fillings out! (And you have a PM.)

Ditto to Betsy after 1.25kg of toffees, Telford.
The M6 South>North reminded me of a colleague when I worked in Telford. He had a meeting with a customer in Berkhamstead. Set off from home in Telford in plenty of time. Multiple phone calls from the customer, he's not turned up, where is he? Eventually my colleague phoned us "I've missed the meeting. I got a bit lost" "What happened?" "I couldn't remember the name of the town I was going to. Knew it began with a B so I thought I'd keep going until I recognised it on sign posts then phone them from there for directions" "Er, ok, where are you?" "Bolton"
Meeting rearranged for the following week. Again, a no-show, phone calls from the customer. Eventually my colleague phones us again "I've missed the meeting again. I think I'm not where I'm supposed to be" "Where are you now?" "Blackpool"
All true.

I had a girlfriend not far from Berkhamsted so not somewhere I venture to very often now lol! They were indeed Walkers toffees and bloody good they are too, kids aren’t partial and I can only eat 2-3 at a time so we still have half a jar! Was a nice touch to include them in the mascot stuff, as indeed were the oatcakes for the kids too.
I used to know a sales rep from east of the country who used to go everywhere via satnav so never had a geographical clue. One day she went St Helens then home and th next day Wigan, I said for god sake could have done both visits in one hit lol
