Hi, You are all probably aware that there is currently a big push on youtube (https://youtu.be/HPJKxAhLw5I) to plant 20,000,000 trees before 2020. In case you haven't heard heres a link : teamtrees.org/And if you feel so inclined support it! I hear every tree planted is a step closer to NJ AND SCHOLES getting the sack!

You should all be using Ecosia as a search engine instead of google, every search and a tree gets planted instead of profits to shareholders www.ecosia.org/

Anyone else remember “Plant a tree in 73” I did a Silver Birch in the back garden in Davenham I recall that the 73 campaign was quite successful and many people probably remember it. The was some runover into the following year, due to the enthusiasm of the environmentalists around at the time, and there was an unofficial campaign, "plant some more in 74". One wonders what has happened to the Green movement since then, as we are 45 years on and I don't remember another high profile conservation campaign happening since then that has had any real impact, except the Heart of England National Forest being started in Mid Warwickshire. We have probably gone backwards in environmental terms since the 70's.

Especially salient when you consider how many trees were lost in the “there won’t be a hurricane tonight you silly billies” Drove a mate down to Worthing from Mid Wales the week after and the devastation in some parts was heart breaking.

A few years ago I grew 30 odd oak trees from acorns. Tried to give them to the local school as a project for the kids... the school couldn’t take them.
Tried to give them to a local nature project... not allowed to take them.
National Trust... couldn’t take them.
Forestry Comission.... not allowed to use them.
Offered to plant them myself on National Trust land... not allowed and couldn’t recommend land to plant them.
Offered to plant them on NT land without anyone knowing where they were... was told I’d face prosecution if caught !
In the end three were planted in a garden in Cheddleton, and now look quite impressive, the rest ended up on the compost heap 😕
