WOW... If he genuinely believes that, WOW. McClean is atrocious, as is Ward.

Do people expect Jones to come out and say publically McClean is wank? He's got to defend his players, especially McClean when Jones has backed him so much since the summer
I'd be amazed if BMI wasn't left back tomorrow

It's his mouth that gets him into trouble. He doesn't have to say anything publicly. In my opinion, less is more, and he should be more mysterious in the pressers. The psychological battle he has now created between himself and the fans is that tomorrow, for the first game in ages (at home as well), people were looking forward to it, and now with his latest statement, people quite rightly, will be slightly deflated pre-match with the knowledge that he will change a winning team by the addition of a player that has been the cause of so many goals against us.

It's a press conference!! He get's asked questions, he answers them. all he has to say then is "i have the players available for their positions" not to say how well mcclean has played (!) and how his new signing is "gathering momentum" it's just a real downer to know that it's likely MClean will be straight back into the team, despite us playing well without him. There'll be a tangible atmosphere from the terraces because of this, and it could have a detrimental effect upon the team. hence why i think he talks too much

He wants fucking off on this comment alone. Ok fair enough you don’t slag your players off but come on get real NJ. He didn’t need to say that which is worrying, he could of answered like a politician and dodged it or given a alternative reply about how important the left back role is blah blah I thought these managers had media training?

This statement alone should be enough grounds to sack the man immediately. Utterly deluded.

Where has he said McClean will start tomorrow? Let's wait and see before we unleash our full sound and fury. Any other manager would say pretty much the same things. Have a bit of faith that he'll be too afraid to change anything other than who starts up front.

Nathan lad if you really honestly believe that the choice of who to be left back is a difficult decision then perhaps you are in the wrong job And WTF does Ward gaining momentum mean? Most people know that we can't start Ward in many games otherwise we automatically trigger another 12 month deal for the pensioner!

Surely he can’t believe that? He’s been absolutely atrocious. Responsible for countless goals. Has he? How many are directly down to him? How many have been a case of winger beating him then getting a cross in? For the record I wouldn't play him at left back either however the facts don't back up your statement Vast majority of goals have been down to combination of goalkeeper error (7 or so) defenders unable to head simple crosses away (and that goes for all the defenders we have played) or straightforward lack of concentration Swansea goal was a good example (MacLean not playing) After that goal the defence was magnificent so that back four should start Where I would strongly criticise MacLean is his poor crossing.

Love the way people ignore the disaster area that has been the right hand side of the defence, and the dithering ineffective centre back work, and the goalkeeping fiasco - our 2 goals conceded a game record is all down to one man !
