I don't associate days of the week with colours (cause that's just weird ) but I've never like Tuesdays. Tuesday masquerades as a middle of the week day when it isn't, it's a start of the week day. Bastard Tuesdays. Tuesdays are nowhere near as bad as Mondays, though, Jeff........... Mondays are the PITS. Disagree Murph, in general Tuesdays are diabolical. Except this week (the exception that proves my rule!) Monday was flipping horrendous - so much so we resorted to wine to numb the crapness lol . Ironically we have a couple of mood hoovers at work who are slowly chipping away at ruining Fridays, the gits.

Dunna be daft Murph, it's as red as red can get. I mean, green FFS. On what conceivable planet....?I thought I'd get picked up on the specific darkness of Thursdays and Sundays. 😎 Why, on Planet Murph, dear heart! The exquisite Planet Murph, where it's always summer, the birds are always singing, the grass is always green (as are Fridays) and the rivers run freely and are made of either gin or vodka - and are permanently chilled - plus they have plenty of little island-y features comprising stacked-up lemon slices. Come on in, the water's lovely! Anyway, I've got a definite theory about the reasons for the particular colours/days link - well, mine, anyway. I'll come back in a bit! Okay, 'ere we go - I'm sure Freud would have made sth of this, eg:
Monday - Red - not necessarily to be feared as such, but definitely not to be looked forward to (eg. back to school/then/back to work), hence Red for danger/fear/lack of harmony. Tues. - Blue - better than the horror of Monday, so calmer, but still fairly staid - but not too bad. Wed. - Orange - pleasant, much brighter, things might be looking up as we're halfway through the week of slog and getting closer to the weekend. Thurs. - Purple - not a bad day, perhaps should be orange as it's closer to the weekend than Wednesday, but it's always been purple & will never change. It's also always been quite a lucky day and although I love amethysts they're not my birthstone, so that doesn't fit. Fri. - Green - the colour of grass / the country landscape / peace & quiet, relief, relaxation, pleasantness. No doubt because it's the last day of the week so School/then/work almost over before the sheer joy of a couple of days off, hence happiness. Sat. - Yellow - the sun is out! At home, please yourself day, full of happiness, do enjoyable things, the beloved Victoria Ground at 3.15pm, and therefore the whole day a sunny outlook. Sun. - Maroon/burgundy: Not a bad day as still free, but the atmosphere more sedate & getting more 'sober' (not in an alcohol way), and at night-time maybe even verging on becoming a downer because as the day wears on it registers that tomorrow will be back to school/then/work for another five days of hell. And the 'hell' in all cases was certain 'extremely unpleasant' (aka VILE) people it was impossible to avoid, both at school and work. They were always there!

Think about it, they work with me, surely that’s reason to be cheerful !?! Well I would've thought so! I'd also expect them to gladly work without pay for such a pleasure! (PS: I know exactly what you mean. I used to be surrounded by a few, too. But interestingly, none of them were Stokies! All imports from other parts of the UK.)

Mind you , cheerfulness will abound tomorrow as I’m “working from home” and no sarcasm , please . No commute and reasonably early finish and halfway through the week! And Fulham on Saturday, reasons to be cheerful ( fingers crossed!!]

Oh, yes, sorry, Tel - I wrote that wrong - I knew you meant Fulham for the footie - what I meant was I was wondering if you might stay the night with any rellies, etc., and have Sunday with them whilst you were down there. I think we in effect relegated Fulham when they left the Prem a few years ago, didn't we? I hope we maintain the winning streak! Hope you have great day.

This all sounds a bit too logical and thought out, based on the working week and weekends. My day colours were formulated randomly, based on my perception of each day's personality, apart from Monday which was grey because of a long and rambling story involving my mum's washing machine lid and a bag of marbles. Happy days.

May - everything's gone green, light nights, summer on the horizon, chester race meeting June - the lightest nights, summer is here, and the open golf plus wimbledon July - a lot of cricket, and boating, and holidays August - summer, but it’s ending, and Stoke always seem to start abysmally April - warming up and girls start wearing less September - decent weather and still green March - first leaves and first blouses are on show. October - nice colours on the trees but getting cold November - slushy leaves, fucking dark, very wet, shite February - utterly wank but a least its only four weeks December - go to work in the dark, come home in the dark, everyone wrapped up in dull colours - wading through slush, absolutely shite January - well at least that years over, this one might be good. Get me outta here - where are england touring ?

In response to the original question, I just fucking hate autumn. I can cope with winter, you know what to expect. Autumn is a real cursed bastard, the inevitable slide out of summer, darker and colder and wetter every day. Leaves turning brown and falling off sickens me to the stomach, I never understand why people say it looks pretty, it's revolting. Getting up in the cold and the dark, getting home in the cold and the dark. I loathe that autumn sun as well, bright and low, dew on grass and mists on moors. Disgusting. I hate snow, it's shit, but give me that over the indecisiveness of autumn any day. Agreed. For me it’s mainly to do with the impending doom of months on end of darkness and worsening weather. Also “back to school”. Ugh. I’m in my forties and seeing that sign in supermarkets still sends a shudder down my spine. People who like Autumn are just wrong in the head basically.

While we're at it: Days of the Week & colours relating to them. Do any folks associate particular days with specific colours? This is how I've always linked them up, even from a very young age: Mon. Red Tues. Blue Wed. Orange Thurs. Purple Fri. Green Sat. Yellow Sun. Maroon/burgundy Anyone else have similar links? Come on - own up! Bizarrely, from a very, very early age the days had a colour attached to them, and it’s never really left me. They’re the same colours now that they always were. Monday - grey Tuesday - purple Wednesday - yellow Thursday - dark blue Friday - red Saturday - white Sunday - dark green Fuck knows why, or what it means. I don't know what synesthesia is but it certainly tastes good.

Every day is like Sunday, silent and grey I know he's a grade A twat but that's a great line. Totally agree. IMO, it's one of his peaks of mournful, beautiful lyricism - great video with Suzie Birchall and the nanny from the Omen too.

May is always the number one month of the year for me. Starts with May Day / Staffordshire Day, weather generally picks up properly so you can turn your face to the sun once more, the garden, fields and hedgerows are alive with fresh growth and the landscape turns into a sea of green.
Of the others, working outside most of the time as I do, I enjoy the stillness of November, the days where it barely gets light, the sun shining thinly, getting back to the house and lighting the fire. January is just something to endure.
