He could still get into this team! A footballer who chose to drop out of the rat race and put his well-being above his wallet--> could have done with him mentoring Berahino!

He never looked comfortable in my opinion. His demeanour made him look a worse player than he actually was. Something about him just didn't look right. Good luck to him. It's better to be happy than to be rich.

Definitely makes sense that he struggled emotionally with criticism and the intensity. Contextualises that fall out he had with Pieters on the pitch. Wish him well, another example of conditions only coming to light long after the event has passed.

The episode with Pieters was pretty strange. Wolly seemed to be having a genuine breakdown on the pitch. The slap Pieters gave him wasn't exactly gentle either.

It's better to be happy than to be rich. That was pretty much my view of him mate. Sounds like he's got his head screwed on though.

What was that, another Wollscheid thread you say? It is, but from a different angle I'd suggest. People can choose to comment on his decision without rambling on about whether he was any good at footy. I think it's a new debate.

When he was on it I thought he was pretty decent especially when you think of the price we paid for him compared to let's say the return we've had from Wimmer and certainly don't think he'd look any worse than the crop we have now bar Shawcross

He was generally crap and had a screw loose but he was like the love child of Baresi and Beckenbauer in the game against Liverpool in the cup so I choose to remember him fondly based on this game.

Anfield, League Cup Semi - one of the best CH performances ever in a Stoke shirt in recent times. Was superb that night, long with the rest of the lads.

Said this on many occasions, with Wollscheid in the team our league record was P45 W20 D9 L16 69Pts. Over a 38 game season that equates to 58 points which is pretty much Europa League form. They are the facts, the bits about him running funny tend to distort that.....

I'm assuming we're not contributing anything more to his wages? Never really his fault we paid for Daniel Levy's new Helicopter, simply paid too much for him.

He says it was his decision but was it really? He wasn't exactly in demand was he Could have played at a lower level from what it says. Would still have earned more than most of us doing that. Chose not to for his own well being. Brave to do it and to talk about it.

Wolly was a good player in my eyes, the amount of people who spaffed themselves over Bruno being his replacement only for us to go on and get knobbed 4-0 every six or seven games is another of the Oatcakes great mysteries.
