Since it tootled off to BT I haven’t seen a minute of Champs League football and it bothers me not one jot. It’s football for the Far East, US, etc TV markets and they are welcome to it. The TV companies, journalists, club owners et al will never understand it but just because Barcelona and Bayern for example, have the best players it doesn’t make it any more interesting to a large number of football fans than a game going on down the road. In fact to fans of Espanyol, Munich 1860 and many other clubs (such as our good selves) it’s a positive turn off. Oh and let’s be clear ‘English’ clubs in no way represent this nation. I agree with you Wuzza on English clubs not representing the nation.
The Champions League or Europa League is not an international or European tournament than involves national teams, it involves clubs from countries.
Quite frankly the only time I'd ever give a toss about it is if Stoke were in it. I don't give a toss if Liverpool win it and it certainly doesn't represent 'England' to me, it represents just that Liverpool were better than all the other clubs.

Put all the big clubs in a group and make them fight it out, giving the minnows a chance to progress further in their groups.
Fucking pointless toiling away all year for your countries only available champions league place only to get the dick from Bayern & Barcelona straight away.
