Wembley is well up there, shitting myself after the first and then it progressively devolved into a gamelong mental basically, think I hugged some fella dressed as a teletubbie though that could have been a hallucination!
Didn't end at the final whistle either, didn't want to leave.
Butland's penalty save on Hazard too in the cup, if only because it was such a dramatic game conceding late and getting the red just thinking extra time is going to be a massacre. Diouf at right back, his mother had just died in the Mecca crush. Best penalty taker in the league to shoot and the save was world past, almost dives past it but stick an arm out...
I'm gutted I wasn't at the drubbing of Liverpool, or the Assaidi goal against Chelsea at home. I do love threads like this though where you remember that as wank as things are right now, some of my best memories are because of Stoke.

Lou's promotion season. Losing 1-0 to Orient with two minutes to go, then suddenly, before you could say "Steino" we were 2-1 up. I often think of the moment Graham Shaw put the ball across and you see Steino running in with literally an open goal in front of him. Oh man, what a feeling.
Then there was Assaidiiiiiii!!!! Jeez, what a mental. I totally lost it. The best way of describing my reaction would be a cross between Graham Norton and a demented Dalek. I was all over the shop.
Just awesome moments. What else could ever make you feel like that.

Villa at home Sidibe and Lawrence away at Hull in that first season back in the top flight. All the Bolton five nil semi final goals. Cardiff playoff semi final even though I was a kid at the beam back. Split away was up there with the best. There have been so many I could go on and on. Always love thinking back to all the mentals I've had, and even more so because they've always been watching the team I love with my old man and you can't get better than that for me.

Can’t believe no one mentioned Paul Tupper Ware at Peterborough that was a total mental

Versus The Shit at the Shit when Arnie scored that free kick; Mentals at Old Trafford are the best, how you’re hemmed in in that little pocket in the corner. My favourite was actually Whitehead equalising in approx 2011ish? Was just so unlikely that we’d get anything at that time (and didn’t in the end of course...)

Tony “the black pearl” Kelly at the Anfield Road end in 1991 in the League Cup. Can still remember the bedlam and sheer disbelief in the away end as a 16 year old as if it was yesterday. Watching endless video replays of it on Granada soccer night the day after - “He’s shortchanged Grobbelaar”.
Paul Ware at the Peterborough semi, Steino at the Burslem bog with Stoke invading the pitch from the Lorne Street, Whelan at WHL, all 5 at Wembley, Mama at home V Villa all worthy of a mention as well.

Whelans winner away at spurs ( almost a heart attack ) , walters for no.4 at wembley ( really thought we'd done it then ) but stein at vale park takes it ..you knew it when butler set off and it was a tsunami wave of a mental ( could just about think we'd do it at 10 points clear )

Whelan away at spurs.
Simonsen saved everything that day and when Whelan scored the away section erupted like a volcano. Epic day.
Beatties header vs citeh with 10 men.
