Jones a 25/1 shot Gareth Ainsworth deserves his shot at a big club. He's done really well getting Wycombe promoted to League 1 (and keeping them there) on limited resources and with Sunderland in a good position in League 1, it's the right step up for him having already proven himself in League 2. My advice to Sunderland... make sure you get the assistant manager too!!

Forever in Newcastle’s shadow 😎 Maybe but what does that mean? When it comes to football, the North East is very different to North Staffs. Almost everyone has "their club". You get the odd individual who's a fan of one of the big 6 but when I managed a works in County Durham I don't remember any. All the employees supported either Newcastle, Sunderland, or the Boro to varying degrees of passion.

Whereas Stoke on Trent has more than it's fair share of plastics, a great number of them being Manure fans. Which is actually very funny given their current predicament!

I have relatives in Whitby who say they are Leeds fans but never go, and a relative in York who admits to being a ManU fan but never goes. There is virtually no interest in football in the rural ares of Yorkshire (Dales, Moors) or the posh places like Harrogate. (I know there is a Harrogate Stokie on here!) There is little interest in coastal areas (Scarborough, Filey) except Hull. It has to be remembered that Newcastle and Middlesbrough "pull" area extends down to Northallerton, and there is of course a lot of people who prefer rugby league, but the main sport in Yorkshire is cricket.

Disappointing but he has become an absolute loon tactically in recent weeks. Daniel Stendel early favourite. 50.67% win rate at Sunderland and sacked!!! Jones up to 14.3% after Saturday He had a budget 20 times more than most of the other teams man. That win % is too low for the money we’ve spent. No! Really???

I didn't realise he'd persevered with the long hair despite the ravages of time, he's gone from Boy Band material to slip him in at the back of the Eagles.

That's one way of looking at it. The other is 18 months ago our board saw fit to hand him the keys to the 50M safe. Millwall manager. Rank incompetence.

Plenty of Leeds fans in Harrogate, Scarborough and the east coast. As far as I know Harrogate whites run a coach to all games. I'm from Skipton, n Yorks and there are plenty of Leeds fans there too Whilst cricket and rugby league are a big deal in these parts, football is defo the number one sport in Yorkshire.

League one standard appointment that. I’d have wanted Stendel but he’s probably got his sights higher. Sunderland forums currently down, and not in a good way! A lot of people annoyed at this. This was an opportunity to give a bit of belief for the fans. An appointment like Nigel Pearson or even Kevin Phillips would have given the place a lift. Instead we have went for what can only be described as the league one equivalent of Tony Pulis. What’s baffling is Nigel Pearson wanted to come but was told no because he wanted to bring in his own team (coaching staff, scouts etc) and we said we couldn’t adhere to that. I thought that was standard practice? Seems our incompetent back room staff have jobs for life with Tweedle Dee & Tweedle Dum in charge. Mini rant over. Still annoyed.
