I got my hands on the most delicious vanilla slice I've ever tasted this week from the farm shop at Wheelock. Mouthwatering.

I am lucky enough to have a huge crop of cooking apples from the tree in my back garden this year. I make apple cake (very moreish) and apple and blackberry crumble with vanilla ice cream. I have give a lot away to neighbours and they have been able to make good use of them.

I haven't eaten cake for a couple of months (must be the longest I've gone without eating cake in my life), as I'm avoiding eating wheat.
Next time I eat cake, I think I'll binge on Battenberg or a good layered chocolate cake.
I miss cake.

I like scones with clotted cream and jam in the summer Victoria sponge in spring and autumn. As for the winter i think you can't beat a piece of spotted dick inside you. Although Mother makes a cricking Apple Crumble

Although Mother makes a cricking Apple Crumble I've made scones from this recipe numerous times lately, always turn out good, I've found it doesn't hurt too much if you haven't got vanilla essence and/or caster sugar. www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/classic-scones-jam-clotted-creamI'm sure there'll be some spotted dicks on there too if you look hard enough

My wife has made several apple and blackberry crumbles using apples from our garden and blackberries picked in the hedgerow directly opposite our house. She's frozen about 4 or 5 so we've got them to look forward to during the next few weeks.
She's also made an absolutely delicious Bakewell Tart following a Jamie Oliver recipe - it's fantastic ! She's done a big batch and made a few to freeze as well.

Head over to the English Cheesecake Company, absolutely divine and fantastic customer service, tad expensive but for that special occasion they’re a must.
Quite often order from them more as not exactly going out anyway

A lemon meringue with a digestive biscuit base like my Nan used to make. Best bit was she didn’t like lemon and my grandad was diabetic and couldn’t have any if he hadn’t adjusted his meals for it, so sneakily would ring her and ask her make one for tea when he was coming pick me up, used to give me right dirty looks when we got back as he knew it was then all mine 🤤😂
