Just googled it and read the article on Stoke on TrentLive. Missed the actual episode, mind. Did catch some B-52's returning to Fairford t'other week when out in the Cottswolds, impressive sight and sound. I would be impressed if you'd seen one of the B2 Spirit bombers out of Fairford. A bit like a Bat out of Hell.

What we need on here is a good thread about UFO's seen over Stoke. Cannock Chase is yer place for high strangeness in Staffordshire. What with UFOs, black-eyed girls, Stan Collymore, mystery ABCs, the Cannock 'bigfoot' etc, it's a hive of odd activity. I once saw a bloke walking a goat on a lead around a car boot in Cannock. Weird. And a friend of mine had a bizarre experience in the now sadly defunct Rugeley Plaza cinema, although not strictly paranormal.

I signed in to post exactly the same thing, Leedsy - you beat me to it! Cannock Chase is apparently what is called a well-known 'hot spot' for UFO sightings, not that I've even been there or seen any (worse luck re. the latter.). I've had a DVD for YEARS which is called sth like 'UFOs Over Cannock Chase', and in honour of this very thread (and especially in honour of Mr Cheesy) I dug it out a couple of days ago & had a look. It's about an hour long - nothing earth-shattering on it, though. Re. the friend of yours who 'had a bizarre experience in the now sadly defunct Rugeley Plaza cinema' - sounds like a friend of mine who had the same sort of thing in the now thankfully-defunct Stone Fleapit in the 1960s! (I never did get the full details from her, I'm glad to say.)

Interestingly, the Aliens I know don't seem to "read" as such, they just seem to absorb information and thought transfer.

Anyone remember the wave of UFO sightings over Stoke in the 60’s ( possibly ) ?
Parkhall and Bentilee areas were particular hot spots. I think there was a local book published about it not long after although I’ve never been able to find a copy. I’ve spoken to a few people who witnessed some very odd events over that time including one close family member who I know has told me the truth of what they saw.

I don't remember hearing about any of that myself, but used to have a close friend (we lost touch about 10 years ago) who lived on a housing estate near Tunstall - I recall him telling me that he got home late one night, after a night out, only to see what he described as a massive saucer-shape craft with lights covering the underside, hovering just above the roof of the row of houses opposite - he shot inside the house, slammed the door and slumped against the inside of it. A few minutes later when he felt brave enough to have another look, he peeped out and it was still there, so he called his father to see it, so he had anther reliable witness. I think he said that when he looked again later it had gone - pity he didn't try to photograph it or stay to watch how much longer it stayed and how it eventually went. I'll have to check on it, but there used to be a South Staffs chap who used to speak at all the big UFO conventions, eg. the one which used to be held annually in Leeds as a 3-day weekend event every October - I met him several times, and I'm sure he wrote at least one book - I think his name was Nick Redfern - so it's vaguely possible that he might have written about the Parkhall/Bentilee incidents. I'll see what I can find out. I think he went to live in the USA about 15 years ago.

Made all the local press and tv reports at the time. The book was an account of all the sightings, and indeed something that landed on the edge of fields near the old Willfield School. It was a small, locally produced book and not many copies were made. Never been able to track it down though 😕

You ought to try contacting the Sennell and seeing if they can trace their coverage at the time..... they might let you look through their archived copies when they've traced them.

There were two lots of sightings, first around 68/69 then again very early 70’s. Loads of sightings around Parkhall and the Willfield side of Bentilee, just across from the site of Wass’ market. I remember reports of something landing in the fields near the old Willfield school. Went up as a young kid to see what was there. Police were keeping people off the site and there seemed to be a scorched / blackened area. Never really gave it much thought back then. I’ve heard accounts from some really credible people about those events since. Something was definitely going on in the area. What that was... who knows ?

If you look at ON DUTY SIGHTINGS - The PRUFOS Police database - you can see that in 1969 four independent police officers spotted a V-shape of bright lights over the Werrington area. There are other sightings in the early 1970s in Staffordshire too. Interesting.

That’s just reminded me of another story I heard from an ex police officer about an incident near the old ‘listening’ radio station at Cheadle. Not UFO related but very strange all the same... I’ll recount that one later 😉
