I have become quite good friends with a guy who has worked with both Powell and clucas and I messaged him last night to ask if he could ring clucas and tell him that his new team play in red and white stripes. This was his response;
😂😂
Just noticed he’s wide left
He’s not the brightest in football terms
Half decent defensive midfielder given a simple remit but anything beyond that is a bridge too far
He is possibly the worst finisher I’ve ever seen on a training ground 😂
You’ve got Nick Powell as well 😳
Lord help you I don’t think he even likes football he’s more interested in playing fifa on his PlayStation

Clucas has been decent This season whatever our problems he ain’t ome do the worst I would actually say finishing and getting into good positions are Clucas' best part of the game, passing and decision making are certainly not very impressive.

Yep...same guy told me last season that his knack of popping up with goals tempts managers to play him further forward but he just isnt good enough. Sees a pass but then needs two extra touches to play it at which point the pass is no longer on and its intercepted. He was bang on

He's as close to a manufactured footballer as you can get. Its shameful how much we paid for him. McGinn at Villa cost half what Clucas did.

First two goals his fault last night. Watch our games back and see how poor his anticipation is, consistently behind the action and his close control rivals Joe Allen The first two goals are down to butland and Edwards no one else First all Butland. Edwards and McClean are to blame for the second, McClean can't stand off wingers and give them that much time and space to pick out a cross (in McClean's defence he's not a left back) and defending Edwards hasn't got a clue how to defend anything in the air, let his man get a free run & jump on him. 3rd goal was all Edwards fault. Just kick the fucking ball out and stop pissing about with it. 'If in doubt, kick it out' All 3 goals could've easily been avoided. Going forward all our players need to learn how to cross a ball, our decision making is piss poor. Tired of these short corners too, then crossing from 30, 40 yards out when the best angle is from the bloody corner flag and no defender within 10 yards. Just whip it in and give someone a chance to head it on goal.

Powell was very poor last night.
He might be talented but is horribly injury prone, so it’s hard to field a consistent starting 11 with him involved.
Another poor signing

I thought Powell was okay last night and if he can stay fit he will be well worth his place. My problem was more with Ince and Clucas. Badou and Etebo showed desire and fighting spirit and this contrasted markedly with the other two who drifted through the game. I still do not know why Duffy cannot get a look in after the season he had in the Championship last year with Sheff. Utd.

Just whip it in and give someone a chance to head it on goal. This is nail on head stuff It is the decision making that really gets me and I don't see anyone immune from this. This is all the way through the team, though Clucas and Ince are particularly poor. So the question has to be why? to me there are 3 possible contributory factors a) they are not very good players (I think this is mostly not the case) b) Confidence is so low it affects decision making at critical times c) too many ideas in their heads coming from coaching I think the 3rd is not to be understated. Ive seen it so many times from top divisions down to non-league Players are instinctive, if you put too many ideas in their heads about what they should be doing with the ball they fuck it up. Simple, clear instructions See Clough, Ferguson, Shankley. Paisley etc, etc for reference. I think it has not changed. Clough used to tell the players close them down, tackle, win the ball get it to Robertson. It worked.

It shows how rubbish we really are when Clucas is touted as one of our best players this season, imho he is crap. I'll reserve judgement on Powell. Also, the less said about Ince, the better.

Thought Powell was looking good for the first half-hour last night, seeing as he was nowhere near 'match fit'. Consequently he faded rapidly second half, but looks a quality player if we can keep him away from the treatment table.
Clucas and Ince are both match fit and they're both still crap.

NDaiye and Etebo put the other 2 to shame with their work rate. Ince and Clucas drift through games frequently to the extent that sometimes you don’t notice they’re playing.

Clucas is really just a nothing, journeyman jobber of a footballer and Powell is the appalling trifecta of being knackered, a bit of a knob and not actually very good.

Clucas did a Joe Allen act last night. Constantly out of position. Countless times recovering ground simply because he was attracted to the play. A major reason why we conceded the second goal. He was way out of position. He does seem to drift out of position which given McClean inexperience at left back is unforgivable.
