I know everyone talks about us not having a left back (and we aren't playing one) but with three centre halves on the pitch we shouldn't be conceding from soft headers anywhere. The players either don't like to play, can't play, won't play or aren't good enough to play this way.
It's not about luck. It's time Jones let this one go and drilled some discipline into a back four so that they understand and can manage the roles expected of them. Then give them a midfield that'll support them. Hitting the woodwork is the least of our problems.

"After just one point from seven games I’m not qualified enough to offer any technical advice to him" When was Smudge in charge?

Having read that, I've got to say that it is a measured, kindly almost, view of the absolute bloody shambles going on at the club, on and off the pitch, no doubt written from the heart but coming from someone perhaps too close to the club and, with some vested interest * ?
* I mean this from earning your bread and butter on the back of the club for such a long time
(not wise to piss on your own chips --I can see that)
BUT
From a more remote, less 'invested' position my take is : -
Quite frankly, persons within the club are getting away with absolute bloody murder still.
Some of them on the pitch - many off it - the chief executive in particular, culpable throughout and, family members in the boardroom too.
they all want absolutely bloody reaming at the very least, for how this has transpired.
and Dismissal ? I am still frankly, amazed how some have survived throughout this darkest of times for Stoke City given, where they were and the status and wealth they had.
some hundreds of millions of pounds revenue wasted in all manner of ways with seemingly no one accountable ?
Quite frankly, in any other walk of life, many from a purely corporate perspective, would simply not survive this.
and nor should they.
Certainly looks more like a playtoy - or a hobby than, a properly and professionally run Football club these-days.

For once I disagree with Smudge_SCFCHow can you have sympathy for Jones, citing Joe Allen's ridiculous sending off as evidence, when the player in question shouldn't have been selected in the first place? He deserves everything he gets.

I usually agree with Smudge's articles but that is just totally wide of the mark.
There's so many contradictions it's unbelievable.

davre johnno hmmm you have to actually go to be invested ? hmmm -------- interesting the pandoras box of what is a 'proper' fan versus, a fan versus, a supporter versus, a follower, versus a johnny cum lately opens for example - if you only go to away matches --how does that fit -for example ? I'm very comfortable I've done my time - its just at my time of life ( retired now - up in leafy north cheshire, same as my brother) and having watched what has unfolded, aghast "I cant be arsed hauling my sorry carcass down there - to watch a totally disorganised and dysfunctional shambles of a football club, full of charlatans, frauds and nepotistic tossers, laughing all the way to the bank - whilst playing shit football. " dave f could you put that quote in your next article please ?

I was in the uk - my favourite band always was yes and, my name is tony
Iwas that name for years - thousands of posts until I started getting really nasty threatening stuff
(for being over critical - some might say I deserved it -but -there you are)
So, had a break and came back under another band name
plenty had already worked this out
and here I am, still happy to put an alternative, unfettered, but very direct and honest opinion.

also - before I retired and when I was at work on major capital projects
a director said two things to me I always remembered and are poignant and, particularly applicable to Stoke City's higher eschelons I reckon thus:-
1) 'If you are not performing and, if you cant change the people - change the people'
2) after this absolute debacle, there has not been enough blood on the carpet - yet
and yes, there was a cull shortly after - quite ruthless, bloody even, careers ended but, necessary and, at top level too.
Stoke are still being run like somebodies personal toy train set at the moment I fear
i.e. you screw up big time and are told:-
aww! never mind - have another go - when does it end ?

Saturday's og was however a foul and down to the dire referee However, the inability to produce a sound defence is a basic failure - and rotating players does not help. We seem to have missed Shawcross more than we expected - again bad luck pre season but surely we have signed more than enough cover Last Saturday we may well have won with 11 men on the pitch but only one thing is worse than a bad team; an unlucky bad team! I still live in hope but time is rapidly running out for Mr Jones

I just dont think the local pundits are coming down hard enough on certain members of the clubs hierarchy
the really hard questions need asking -- over and over
obvious ones like:-
e.g how come we havent got a left back worth a damn in the club presently - WHY ? ?
or
Tony - How many hundreds of millions of pounds worth of income have we lost this last 2 -3 years ?
or
Nat - why are only 3 of 10 summer signings now featuring in the first eleven at present ?

another saying or two
'Chance favours the prepared mind' ( under siege two) ( and Louis Pasteur)
and as regards LUCK
some golfer said 'you know its strange , the more I practice - the luckier I get'
therefore
plainly, that sorry lot of stripey deckchairs seemingly dont practice anything much really

It’s extremely hard to do what Stoke have done, as despite out spending our rivals enormously in this league we’ve actually made ourselves the worst club in this league by some distance.
The results don’t lie and we’re run by a club that’s, well an absolute joke. How on earth can things change as it’s “in house” decisions probably over a nice evening meal with the Coates clan.
How can we move forward when they really can’t blame each other in a family

it is indeed - and its precisely why I wont let this drop they need hounding relentlessl;y until, something actually changes for the better Well that makes as much sense as claiming living in 'North Cheshire' is some massive trek to get to games. I assume you mean Warrington, which is four junctions of the M6. Interesting definition of 'hound relentlessly' too. It appears to mean sit on your arse then whine on a messageboard about games you haven't even seen. Jones must be shitting himself at your hounding.

So, yeah I'll take a medal for driving for an hour and a half to go to a game. BTW, you describing Warrington as 'North Cheshire' is a bit of a giveaway. Not exactly Alderley Edge, is it?
