Jesus BG what’s wrong with you? Rowett was useless, the football was appalling culminating in the shit fest at Bolton; just look at the situation they were in, culminating in where they are now and we were really lucky to get a nil nil draw. Unfortunately we made a bad situation worse in appointing Jones, who is stuck with the £50m of rubbish that your hero Rowett lumbered him with! Stop this shit about 6 games and fickle as ****- it’s 29 games no matter how you dress it up. I wonder how long it will take Cowley and Monk to win 3 games with the squads they have inherited? GR was in stage one of a massive rebuild, winning the league was a pipe dream, it was never going go happen, that squad was dire. I stand by what I originally said, that squad needed the spend just to tread water. People expected too much too soon regardless of how much we spent, we still had a whole host of shite we had to call first team players that we couldn't shift. On to jones, Is it jones' fault that 3 of rowett's biggest buys dont fit how he prefers to play? I dont think so. He is trying to accommodate ince & mclean because we cant move them on, if we could we would have had a left back and a better number 10. Ince isn't a #10 and mclean isn't a LB. If you're giving one man big money to spend you dont sack him 6 month later. You also then don't then employ a man that utilises a system that doesn't suit the big buys the last manager paid for who are on long contracts. Also, after you have completed that cluster fuck you don't then sack a manager 6 games after backing him with 10 new players that very summer.. can you see a pattern developing? We had a LB Jones pushed him out, was that because he didn't fit his system ? like Ince and McClean yet he is still persevering with both of them despite both not been fit for purpose, 6 games my arse he couldn't get a tune out of last seasons players yet he is still playing the majority of them.

Still playing the majority of them? So he doesn't play the players he has signed then? And here was me thinking it was a squad game. If I didn't know any better by listening to you and your sidekicks you would be forgiven for thinking jones does not play the players he has signed and also youth doesnt get a chance? Tell me who he has signed and doesnt play? davies. Wow. Talk about over exaggeration, crap slinger/ muck spreader is quite apt. McLean has looked decent at LB going forward, not the finished article but there is promise, umpteenth times better the pieters going forward.

Our squad is not worse. For the final time, you are judging jones on last season when he has half a new squad to settle in this season. Last season when jones was appointed it was the general consensus he took over a dogs dinner of a squad. This group of players cannot take the stick for last seasons group. Judging after 6 games is simply ridiculous. People wanted rowett out exactly the same last year because we were not top of the league and started the season dire. We then went on a TEN game unbeaten run and at one point were 8 points of 6th place with still half a season to go. Clubs can and do go on 3'4'5 & more game winning runs in this division. Teams can start badly and speed up the table, (2 last year got promoted), teams can come fast out of the blocks and drop right back down, it happens, its football. 6 games means little in a 46 game season. Now put your dummy back in and behave Not one single signing is better than we had. Not one. Powell could have been but he's injured. He's playing with basically the same team as last season - he isn't even playing his new signings - what is that about? Probably because they've been worse than we had before. People make this point to you on a daily basis but then a new thread appears and you start on again! Let me get this right - having been relegated from the Premier League you actually expected the squad to improve? Seriously? Player for player we are worse now than we were a year ago and a year ago we worse than we were the year before. Last season we could attract players who thought we might make an instant return. This season we can only attract players who know it might be a long haul - plus the reality of FFP starting to bite, That would be true regardless of who was manager. For all their faults player for player the squad that got us relegated were technically far better than the squad we have now. To blame Jones (or Rowett) for that is ridiculous - it was inevitable once it became clear we weren't good enough to bounce straight back. Having said that the current squad is massively under performing - and that in part is down to Jones and in part down to the players not living up to their potential. And it doesn't help that the "supporters" aren't actually being particularly supportive, The manager and the players and the "supporters" need to get their act together. And before anyone kicks off with the happy clapper crap - in what walk of life does endless carping criticism result in improvement? It doesn't - it just ends in a downward spiral of ever decreasing confidence and players wanting out. Afobe got booed out of the club - and look what's happened now he's in a less toxic environment. And Afobe isn't going to be the last half decent Championship quality who will walk. Anyone who thinks there's a line of decent managers and players desperate to come here really need to give their heads a wobble. No sane manager or sane player would come here. It's turning into a cesspit of bitterness - a club hated by it's own fans for not living up to their delusions of grandeur.

so now we have to sack every manager that that doesn't win every game? When did we last win with Jones in charge in the League and that was without his players ?, have his signings improved the squad ? were trying to change the whole ethos of the club tho ain't we and at the minute through different factors were not all on the same page which is why it's taking a lot longer

Afobe had 4 goals in his first 6 games at Stoke- he then added 4 in the next 33; but ignore that as it doesn’t fit your point. I don’t think anyone who follows Stoke can be accused of delusions of grandeur- but if you think sitting bottom of the Championship after 6 games, following on from 23 games of mediocrity last season is simply going to change because Jones will get until Christmas, then I’d respectfully suggest that you are the one who is being delusional. If you think another relegation is what is needed before we can start a proper rebuild, then fine, so be it.

If you’re admitting that our relegation squad was better and we’ve made no real money from sales why did we need to “rebuild” then? And if last season was our last chance to attract decent players then why did we buy Ince McClean and Clucas? Afobe isn’t a lone striker and should never have been played as one. The managers need to take a good look at themselves for that one. He’s gone to Bristol who are playing to his strengths and is player of the month! Our last two managers have been so wedded to a system they can’t even look at what would suit the better players. And yet people like you blame the fans. We didn’t play him as a lone striker for most of a season then try and shoehorn him into a diamond.

There will be Stoke games to watch and things to speak in foreseeable future, regardless of what league are we playing in. There will be also some ups around the corner despite of the current downs. What I'm trying to say that we should not be too fixated to play in the Prem again because that'll only take enjoyment out of supporting Stoke now. We shouldn't be living in the past or in the future... we are now in the Championship and despite of playing pretty badly we will be certainly not without drama this season. And we do have also lot to play for so the excitement will be there. Perhaps accepting where we are now and what we are playing for would also take some pressure of the players and manager and therefore could create a better atmosphere in and around the club resulting eventually better performance on the pitch too. We are shite there is no future other than a shite one, we are not going to win a game this season with the shite we have in charge, Football in the championship is shite, but not as shite as the shite football we will be watching next year when we are playing tier 3 shite. I want ambition and a vision, not a board, club and supporters that think we should stay with a manager just because he is enthusiastic and because we can't do any better than just giving any old mediocre Sod ago because we are fed up of changing managers. This attitude sums the shite lackluster unambitious City of Stoke up and the inertia the board, fans, and club are suffering from and have been since our inception - we were one of the pioneers of the game and should be a permanent fixture in the top flight - anything else is shite.

Why shouldn't Nathan Jones be judged on his management stats last season? He had half a season almost but there was no upturn in results or performances, a gradual decline if anything. Yet at the same time Dean Smith had gone into a struggling Villa side & we all know how that one ended, suffice to say they are currently fulfilling fixtures in the top flight of English football! & this also applies to where you say teams can win 3,4,5 & more games on the spin & speed up the table. You even quoted 2 of these as getting promoted. & one of these was Villa who sacked a failing manager in October coz of a poor run of form & results & look what that change created for AVFC. It really can work if the right manager is appointed! So in essence Jones with half a season last season could & perhaps should of done better than he did do but let's face it most Stoke fans were both realistic and understanding of the situation & gave Jones the benefit of the doubt even though our more illustrious neighbours down the road achieved their aims by changing their direction when it wasnt initially going to plan! We all listened intently to Jones promises for the 19/20 season & how he was going to create a team we'd be proud of with young players playing a fast & attacking brand of football. Then this continues during the summer where Jones makes his intended signings early on, he describes the new incomings as leaders who've experienced what it takes to get a team promoted & everyones focused on the primary aim of getting promoted this season! Again he's talking the talk & we're all believing what we're being told. Well excuse me for being like many, able to recall the way last season panned out, the promises made at the end of the season & throughout the summer & add to that our absolutely dismal start to the 19/20 season. You keep referring to it as only 6 games in, I prefer the 1pt from 18pts take on it & that coupled with the worst goal difference in the league! What is there really to be positive about as things stand? People were rightfully worried when we started to fall away from the Premier League set up & the same people are voicing those same concerns again & rightfully so IMHO. I respect your opinion that you think the club should stick with Jones, however I dont quite agree with your reasoning behind it & that you fail to see other peoples genuine concerns with where we've come from & where we're currently going to. I'd love nothing more than your views & trust to prove everyone wrong but somehow cant quite see it panning out like that.

To answer the question of thread title, you only exist if there is a purpose to your existence, a future aim, a target, a planned venture etc. If there is nothing to be gained from the outlay, whether it be financial outlay, physical outlay or supportive outlay, there is very little reason to carry on. The gibberish in your OP suggests we should all just plod along like robotic machines without a care in the world, we buy a brand new car which is a total dud but we shrug our shoulders and say "oh well, it happens" If you're not going to be affected by an outcome, result or ending then there's absolutely no point in following, supporting or taking part in the event.

We sat back in apathy as Hughes destroyed our club and our PL status, last season we watched us getting worse in a lower standard League, however never in real danger of relegation under Rowett, we bring in Jones who then wins 3 games in 4 months, 6 games in we are rooted to the bottom of the championship with a lunatic for a manager, there is very little enjoyment watching Stoke just now and hasn't been for three seasons. So you suggest we sit back watch the shit been served up happy clap us to another inevitable relegation to the third division, when do you suggest we stop been happy with our lot ? so now we have to sack every manager that that doesn't win every game? No, just the out of their depth ones who've won 3 in 26. Stop being silly.

What some people fail to grasp is we've gone from an established Premier League side to a team that looks like it's just gotten promoted above it's level to the Championship. All in three years. Yet apparently we're supposed to be happy about it...

Let's face it though, we're like spoiled little children. We own this club and will kick & scream to the owners until it goes right, no matter how many changes it takes. We have a god given right to be a premiership club. People fail to see how changing the manager can have an adverse effect aswell. Do you really think that the board are going to keep sacking a manager then moving heaven & earth to facilitate his needs? I blame the board aswell for weak leadership, when rowett was in charge and under pressure they should have come out and released a real statement saying they have backed their man with massive funds and he will be in charge of this club for 2 years minimum whatever the weather. That would have halted the hysterics, fans then either go if they want or stay at home once they realise they are not achieving anything.

Good God. There's more bollocks per square inch on this thread than any I've read for a long while. Some supporters are currently getting the team they deserve, that much is abundantly clear. The irony of your post is your actions towards the last manager has give you this team rooted at the bottom to make you so happy so surely 'another' change should make it better still, hey.

Acceptance of under achievement and being grateful are two things that have always held this club and this city back.

It's horrible having no win since March or April or whenever it was, sitting bottom of the table with 1 point and having to sit through 2 weeks of an international break with no chance to put it right.
People who care about the club are tense and irritable, it's not surprising .
What is surprising is that no one from the board has come out to try to calm nerves and offer some hope of a brighter future.

Rowett wasn't abysmal, he arrested the slide, we were slowly but surely making progress. Afobe may have been the wrong signing but this guy is a championship manager not an elite level manager, he made a bad judgement as many managers do, even the elite ones. Best of it is this, you're calling rowett's football abysmal but look who you are all voting for now in the polls, hardly managers that play fast attacking football like you were begging for during rowett's reign, is it? Hughton and his football is a coup! 🤭 No doubt if the next managerial dullard doesnt start winning games straight away his football will be abysmal and you 'just want to be entertained again', hey. Make your mind up.

Under Rowett Stoke would not have toyed with,or achieved relegation I will give you that. They would have become the Championship version of our Premier League side- top half without ever seriously threatening promotion, and ultimately GR would have been sacked for lack of success- that’s the way football management is, and why there are no destitute Premier League or Championship ex- managers. Perhaps Rowett should have been given more time, but if you think Jones needs more time then implicitly you accept that Rowett has left him with a giant shit sandwich and did nothing to move the club forward at all- after all in his 29 games Jones has seen us decline from 13th to 24th in a division which while competitive is abysmal in terms of quality.

Then made us no better attacking wise having had the largest budget in the Championship. You just make shit up. Rowett was a complete and utter failure. He sorted nothing and made us worse. Stop rewriting history.

Make your mind up. Rowettball was torpid shite and once he turned on the fans he was toast. The current incumbent has been given great support on and off the pitch but by his own admission his record is lamentable. There is no reason why we should put up with such chronic underperformance, yet you go one step further than put up with it and seemingly embrace it! Very strange.

Stop rewriting history. One sentence I need to read " dismantle the solid defence that Lambert managed to make" Oh ffs, do you mean the same defence that got mullered for 2 whole seasons? That defence sacrificed everything else we had to offer. We offered nothing to win a game in a vein 'team attempt' to keep a clean sheet, awesome defence!
