Whoever comes in next as manager, please, please do not bring in another blxxxy Welshman, or anyone with a welsh sounding name. Bring back Lou Macari.

Well I hadn’t released the lad who scored the second goal today was 16 years old. Fucking hell.

I don't disagree too much with your team but I don't think it's at all accurate to describe Butland's performance last night as disastrous. Yes, he made a bad kick which led to a goal because the Stoke player it hit wasn't watching the ball and it happened to rebound straight to the Leeds player who was well beyond the back line when it might have gone anywhere. An element of bad luck. But he didn't have a bad game, made a couple of decent saves, and showed his bottle and confidence taking the 5th penalty. His interview posted on here showed maturity and honesty in my view and no evidence of lack of confidence. That said, I expect Federici to retain his place on Saturday. I am always reminded of what Arnold Palmer said when asked if he wasn’t a bit lucky after chipping in to win the Open. “It’s funny, the more I practice the luckier I get”. Ain’t no such thing as luck, unless you believe in Santa Claus and fairies at the bottom of the garden. That may be true in golf where you play with a different ball to the opponent ( although even in golf, you can hit a bad drive into a tree and it luckily falls to good lie rather than poor rough - I'm sure that happened occasionally even to the great Arnold Palmer) but surely isn't true for football and other non-individual sports. Take for example Alexander-Arnold's goal yesterday. He put in what he freely admitted was a cross not a goal attempt from a deep position, it hit the back of a defender who was much nearer him than the goal, causing a trajectory which he could not have achieved with his foot, and it loops into the far corner of the net. Fluke. Good luck for Liverpool. Bad luck for Burnley.
