Who are these problem players though? It's a completely new squad from the relegation team. It's a totally different dressing room from May 2018. And Jones himself has added 12 players. He's ditched ten completely - anyone he thought was a problem was summarily dumped into the bomb squad. And BMI has now effectively joined their ranks. Only Allen, Butland and Shawcross remain - and I don't think anyone has ever suggested any of that lot are anything but good pros. Well butter fingers butland has been throwing the ball into his own net every game this season. True, but never seen a suggestion anything in his behaviour helps foster an unhelpful culture. Same with Allen - and Etebo. He may be referring to Badou (who he has actively chosen to keep around the place), but he hasn't featured. And neither has BMI really. www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-7380595/Preston-3-1-Stoke-Winless-visitors-drop-foot-Championship.html'There must be something playing on his mind. He's a top keeper, and excellent character who trains well but this doesn't help us.' www.stokesentinel.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/stoke-city-jones-joe-allen-3231000“No, Joe never deserves a ringing of his neck,” he chuckled. “He’s one of the best pros I’ve ever worked with, he’s phenomenal" “Joe is key to what we do here, a great lad, great pro and a fantastic player who did loads to make sure we were an attacking force. www.stokesentinel.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/stoke-city-etebo-ndiaye-jones-3213602“The boy is some player and we are very pleased to have him. The attitude he shows is exemplary. A lot of the players here have been much maligned for attitude and that kid is just exemplary and a pleasure to work with. What a player.”

Think jones is just using that as an excuse for a poor performance.

It's all lazy analysis. 'There's something wrong at stoke', like every player we sign is a bad character. Its nonsense. Its very simple, we've had bad managers and bad transfer windows. We haven't had any defensive midfielders who will protect the defence for 4 years. A succession of useless managers have failed to remedy it. And when we spend big money we spend it very badly. The only way to get out of this is have a GOOD transfer window, where we sign players to address the lack of defensive midfielders, pace and power in the team

According to The Express Coates has given him a couple more games to turn things round........so he'll be off next week!

Let’s hope that’s just the express making things up as it’s ridiculous to say in public . Only ever ever ends one way and increases the pressure when it’s already stifling performance .

Odd isn’t it really that before he’s been praising his players and repeatedly telling us that they want to be here and play for this club and now, when his jobs nearing the line, he’s saying he actually isn’t sure anymore... Almost like he’s talking out of his arse again and blaming everyone but himself 🤔 Exactly this. Who was it who said judge me after a pre-season? Who was it who said these are my players, this is my team? Who was it who said these are players who have heart and are leaders? Who was it who said we will play fast attacking football and give you a team to be proud of? Who was it who said (following the first 20 games)the players we have are not suited to the diamond, but picked 8 of the non -suited players to play that formation on Wednesday? Who was it who said that the aim is promotion and made no mention of the “bad attitude that is still hanging around”? We have to give him to Christmas, but SGS should bear in mind that it is NJ who has made the rod for his own back. He might do well to engage his brain before opening his mouth- he has had 26 games, we have played well in perhaps 5 or 6, been okay in 8 or 9 and have stunk the place out in the others. If by Christmas we are not mid - table, after all his statements about the “Brave New World” he has no one to blame but himself if the change is made.

Yeah? Have you got a counter argument or are you another one of the bone heads demanding change because we aren't instantly tanking teams? SGS A team containing Butland Batth Shawcross Etebo Allen McClean Ince Vokes should have won more than 4 out of 26. That's the bottom line. Our squad is not that bad and he's massively underpeformed.

I like Jones but think he was the wrong appointment - he should have stayed @ Luton and taken all the promotion glory and then be measured on how well he did in the championship. Indeed, they are probably struggling due to him not being at the helm having got promoted on the inertia he created.
Too much too soon and wholly unreasonable to expect a league 2 manager to make good with what was a steady Prem club for a decade now in deep crisis. We needed someone with a proven track record of operating at the highest levels and has valuable insight into dealing successfully with players from home & abroad. There seems to be a lack of respect from the players who probably don't rate him - there's certainly a break down in communication if he cannot get across his plans, tactics, strategies & objectives.
He should go sooner than later IMHO and get someone who can gain that immediate respect and a positive response from those on & off the field.

The second Allen quote is a bit of a worry given he's the key to the oppos success against us.

Im only saying Cut him some slack not totally obsolve him. I don’t see how you can blame jones for butland not making routine saves. Butland completely destroyed the momentum we were building again. Maybe he needs to start sorting out his defence too. He played like someone who has an issue or was match fixing. Yet again he seemed to have a defender in his line of view on a goal, once i can understand do it again and its poor positioning or your hiding. what momentum...looking at the result he 100% carried on the momentum our club is heading....no positive but totally abysmal momentum.
