Without nailing my “get rid of him” mantra to the mast, just how long do we give him? I agree it’s far to early to even consider a change but just WHEN is the right time? Too soon makes us look stupid and too late gives the incoming too little time to turn things around

As sad and dumb as it is I think we have to give him a year or so just to see if he can do it.
Obviously it would be asap with current reced but our recent history with managers is a joke so will have to give him time

Don't think it is too soon personally. This is the 3rd managerial failure in 18 months, not including Hughes. The Board or more likely John Coates want to fish in a very small pond of up and coming British managers and that carries risks as we can see. For me that policy has to be abandoned and go back to experience. Chris Hughton for me.

Well it usually goes like this.
Beginning of the season 'give him at least 10 games' Half way through the season 'it's not his squad, give him the January transfer window' End of the season 'he didn't have a full pre-season, give him a full pre-season'
then the circle starts again.

I really want Jones to succeed with us(who wouldn't)?
Give him up to the Birmingham game,if we are still bottom after that,he needs to be gone.

3 wins in 20 odd and counting.....can't afford to give him much longer
At most other places he'd probs be gone already with a record like that

Birmingham away after Leeds as well, another place we have a rotten record isn't it?!.. I'm already at the stage where I don't know where a win is coming.

I'd give him until the Birmingham game. If we're still winless, I'd be reasonably sure that's the time to pull the trigger.
Some bold calls on the team sheet on Saturday would win him a bit of support back - but if we're still looknig for a win going into the international break, that could well be the time for a change - and it'd give us 10 days or so to try and get the successor, presumably Hughton?

I’m not dwelling on last nights result because it doesn’t surprise me one bit. Not gonna go into what others have mentioned and single out players what’s the point.
Fact of the matter is Jones has to grow a pair and drop certain players and formation’s Saturday (Butland, Allen and this system). I would give him 3 games tops to sort it out! He has a break after the next two to get things right and figure out what formation he can use with this current crop of players. I hoped it was gonna work out for him I really did but it looks like it’s gone the way we all feared. I can’t see us getting better under him... hope I’m wrong!

The time is now the longer this continues the harder it becomes for any incoming manager.

If we have another shit performance and bad result V Leeds he has to go with immediate effect. None of this sticK with Nath bullshit. hes got a plan, it takes time, 4 managers in a year ....blah. He is shocking, completly lost the plot and clear he is out of his depth at this level and a the club is just to much of a mess for him.
More importnantly, Chris Hughton is avaibale and he would be best fit. Bye Nathan.

Look at his interviews last night. He’s gone. Mentally shattered and exasperated. He won’t last the month out.
When does a manager calling out his players end well?

Sooner or later he has to try something new, if only to get points on the board and revisit the diamond at a later time when he has a few more more suitable for it.
He may not be the problem but he has to be the solution, that's his job

If he's not made dramatic improvements by Christmas TP will be invited back. Players think he is "clueless"

I’ve been advocating giving him 10-12 games but given that we’re conceding so many goals I’d shorten it and give him a maximum of 4 more games to see if there’s any improvement, if this trend continues we can’t afford to give him any longer than that.

When there 10+ points difference between us and 12 th place. It time to start re looking. For the right person. I really hope Jones is with us long term. I like his work rate effort and dedication . He wants to manage us. That is likely to be only another two games Victoria..

The thing is if results and/or performances are bad enough, *any* manager is probably only eight or ten games away from the sack at any time. If Man City lost every single game between now and November, does anyone think Guardiola would still be in a job there?
For Jones the question is less "how long do we give him" and more "what does he need to do to keep his job", and we're at the point where that basically has to be asked and answered on a game-by-game basis now. In principle I'm still in favour of giving him time to see if he can come up with something resembling the Derby performance consistently, but that has to come with some minimum expectations along the way. Realistically if we're beaten badly by Leeds twice, he probably won't be with us for the Brum game.

You simply can't say we should give him so many more games (insert arbitrary figure), or that he should be given until a specific date in time. If he makes bold changes on Saturday and it's a cracker of a game but ultimately we lose 3-2 to a goal in injury time, then he'll almost certainly be here next week but if he goes with essentially the same team and we get spanked 5-0, then it's very hard to believe that he won't be clearing his desk on Monday. I don't think the 'right time' is today but it easily could be on Monday and it easily could be not.

The issue here is that the people running the club have not got the foresight to make the right decision at the right time. We've seen it for the past 8 years.
Going from match to match tells you nothing.

Going from match to match tells you nothing. Let's be honest Pugs. Old man Coates on his todd was no better was he? Outside of Macari and Vinegar Tits, his record himself is appalling with managers going back to Alan Ball and before. Even Hughes, who did a good job early doors came with a huge reputation for what went on at QPR and he didn't disappoint in the end. I'm vastly disappointed with the son and heir. He came to the fore with a big reputation about how much of a football bloke he is and two of the appointments with him supposedly at the helm have been disasters. If Jones fails then that is three out of three. Absolutely no excuses for that. I'm convinced that if Jones fails here we'll end up in League One. They haven't got a clue. Not a clue.

I don't think the club have the appetite for another manager change yet.
Last night's performance was dire, but we could have won the previous 3 if we had had the breaks and we did win one of them.
No one expects a result against Leeds or away from home, but do expect a creditable performance.
The worrying thing last night was Jack made serious errors, but then the rest of the "lost it", including losing self control. Poor passing, fewest shots so far this season, and shots and centres going no where near close. Where are the leaders?
I'd allow Jones at least 2 more dire performances in games we would reasonably expect to win before calling it a day.

Of course his record is bad and I include him in it all. He's more culpable than anyone. When you hear things like 'a bloke told me down the pub about..' and then next minute he's in charge, well it's amateur hour at best. I'm convinced a half decent manager would keep us in this division with their eyes shut. They'd ditch this ridiculous formation for a start - I really hope Jones does so because if he doesn't he'll be gone after the Brum game.

Truth be told his days are probably already numbered, I highly doubt he’s going to turn us into a defensively sound team over the course of the next few games, chances are we’re going to keep conceding goals at a rate of 2-3 per game.

If John Coates is in charge then his last appointment, Jones & his interest in the foreign chap whose name alludes me, but turned us down suggest he does or is prepared to think outside the box..we really don't want to get back on the Moyes, Allardyce train again..

Look at his interviews last night. He’s gone. Mentally shattered and exasperated. He won’t last the month out. When does a manager calling out his players end well? I was wondering about this- football managers have a stressful time. In normal work somebody may pull you to one side and say you need to take a course, we'll find someone to mentor you etc if it looked like the strains of the job were getting too much. In football it is basically shit or bust, you let the guy carry on until he is literally at the end of his wits and then sack him.
