I was talking to my dad about the Preston game, both watched it on Sky, we couldn't believe how bad we were.
When that third went in we both said we are in fucking big trouble here. And yet after the Derby game I made a somewhat lengthy comment on here that we were looking better. Now we're back to square one and then some. IMO yesterday was worse than the QPR match.
If we get smashed by 3 or 4 against Leeds then I can only see one outcome of that and that is him being sacked. I can't see Coates weighing it up and going 'let's give him more time', because you're running the risk that by October we could be behind quite a distance. Think my midtable by October bet isn't going to come through as it stands!

A demolition saturday will make Jones borderline sackable Borderline? I'm torn between giving him a full 10 games and hoping he pulls back from this tailspin and the inevitable turmoil and chaos of a new (and probably disastrous) new appointment

He has to go three at the back and try and win ugly. Collins, Lindsay and CCV. Fed in goal. Edwards and McLean wing backs. Stick Etebo in from the start and Powell for Ince because if Ince puts another shot over the bar I'm going to hunt him down

Just the small case of Leeds at home coming up.... And then after that, we go away in the cup to...Leeds

The football is just so slow and turgid. I was one of the people who wasn’t too concerned with our relegation and thought we might enjoy our time in the championship. How wrong can you be? It’s a shit league, with as shit football and at the moment we are the shittest!

As with everything Stoke city, the fans watershed moment normally comes at about the right time
But Peter and co's watershed moment will be after 40 games and we're 20th after spending most the season telling us everything is fine and promotion is still on the table

It’s a shit league, with as shit football and at the moment we are the shittest! It's a very poor league this time. Leeds, WBA, Shef Weds look alright but I don't think much of anyone this time round. Especially us.
Our football is lethargic at times. I saw a couple times Allen slowed the game down, a pass Etebo could have made to keep the flow going but went backwards, no urgency to make it 3-2
Mate when we went down I was all in on the King Homer gifs and pissing the league. I was this season as well at first. Then we lost against QPR and Charlton and it came crashing back to earth.
We are the worst of a rather bad bunch, but no one I've seen yet has been as poor as we were against Preston. Especially anyone who was billed as a promotion candidate.

I think last night may well of been that moment For me it was Birmingham away last season, West Ham at home the season before, Leicester at home ( 2-0 up at ht 2015 ....moments when you just sit back and think it’s gone and it’s going to take a lot to turn it around Shocked by it What shocked you the most?

I’ve seen many people on various threads saying Federici in goal. Isn’t Davies our second choice keeper?

What are the odds of us fixing the defensive frailties in the next few games ? Unless jones makes wholesale changes to how we’re setting up then Pretty slim I’d say.
He needs to scrap the diamond, it’s making us defensively weak, teams are exploiting the gaps it leaves open and are punishing us.

I think Duffy and Powell both have to play asap. There's no craft or skill at the moment in any of our play. We're not posing the right sort of problems, it's one way or no way with Nathan. He's imagining a game we're not suited to playing. The squad has more ability than it's showing.
GK
Edwards Carter-Vickers Lindsay/Collins Ward
Woods Etebo Clucas
Duffy Powell
Hogan/Gregory

If cousins is this animal that Jones describes then start with him and build around him. Oh for a salif diou

My faith in what Jones thinks regarding Cousins is totally shot! The DM with presence and skill is and was a big miss in the Summer. Instead we got a QPR reserve!

We looked like Sunderland in that documentary, where defeat and humiliation are just around the corner. Sunderland also flip-flopped between a load of poor managers, Moyes, Grayson and Coleman. All barely registering below 20% win rate.

Having left us alone since our relegation the media are starting to have an interest in us again not for the right reasons.
To be honest its embarrassing and there is only so much time you can put up with it

I don't know the answer, but sure as hell giving away early goals isn't helping. No manager can legislate for the type of schoolboy (insulting to schoolboys) errors that we are making This isn't about shape, formation etc it's about professional players switching off Maybe it's time to give a few of them a rest: Butland and Allen for starters (ie non-starters for a couple of weeks) and let the younger players have a go Jack looked 'haunted'last night, and the extra long hug from Rudd told us more that anything I reckon. Send him on holiday for a fortnight, somewhere quiet, away from football (on TV too) and let him get his head straight Allen works his socks off, but to no discernible benefit to the team, again, send him shooting in Scotland or summat What is making them switch off? It's all about the formation for me. Players aren't having it. Jones has to change it or Saturday will be embarrassing.

We haven’t played a league game this season where the defence hasn’t looked disorganised.
We are conceding at least two goals in games.
There is no watershed, just a steady, continual decline.

Give players a scent of an excuse and they will grab it with both hands.

Give players a scent of an excuse and they will grab it with both hands. I can just picture it ..... NJ: "LEE! What the hell! What kind of a performance was that? You were hiding!" Gregory: "But Boss, it's tough. There I was ready to bleed Red & White for you & the team, but that Ince fella just does my head in. A one trick pony trying to grab all the glory and blasting into row Z. I just felt all my energy and enthusiasm draining out. Oh by the way, can I have my 40,000 quid for this week please, I need to put in a new bathroom." NJ:"TOM! What the hell! What kind of a performance was that? Don't you know you have team mates!" Ince: "But Boss, it's tough. There I was ready to bleed Red & White for you & the team, but that Allen fella just does my head in. He runs around like a chicken without a head disrupting everyone else. I just felt all my energy and enthusiasm draining out. Oh by the way, can I have my 40,000 quid for this week please, I need to plan my vacation next summer." NJ: "JOE! What the hell! What kind of a performance was that? Didn't we agree on your positional zone!" Allen: "But Boss, it's tough. There I was ready to bleed Red & White for you & the team, but that Butland fella just does my head in. He never provides a safety net for anyone who makes a mistake. I just felt all my energy and enthusiasm draining out. Oh by the way, can I have my 40,000 quid for this week please, I need to put a new navigation system in my boat." NJ: "JACK! What the hell! What kind of a performance was that? Do you know you're supposed to stop the ball from going into the net?" Butland: "But Boss, it's tough. There I was ready to bleed Red & White for you & the team, but the pressure! Everyone expects me to save this team because I'm an England Goalkeeper. Can you please get on to those fans and tell them to up their support? I just felt all my energy and enthusiasm draining out. Oh by the way, can I have my 40,000 quid for this week please, I need to put down a deposit for my new house in London." NJ: "Aye Pete, things are going swell. Everyday the lads are gelling more and more. We're going to really smash someone soon. Oh by the way, can I have my 40,000 quid for this week please, I need to relocate my family back to Luton." PC: " See!? I told you there was nothing to worry about. Nathan's got it in hand!"
