All the above... But insert having Macron making our kit onto that list too! Things really did start going wrong when we enlisted them! As I worryingly predicted at the time it would! 🙄🤣

The owners are directly to blame for points 1, 3 and 5 and indirectly to blame for points 2 and 4.

Should've sacked him at the end of the previous season or let him see out the current season. Hindsight, eh.

Not selling Allen, Bauer and Butland when there stock was relatively good, has in hindsight, been a colossal fuck up of proportions so epic it's unreal.

Recruitment is the main issue for me. We have unimaginatively chased has beens from bigger clubs, with the result that we end up with a team of overpriced players on the decline. Even when we do sign a decent player (Etebo for instance) they are in a position where we already overstocked with a similar type of player.

Scholes Coates for keeping Scholes Butland Allen Ten other player signings presided over by Scholes.
Common denominator Scholes is rotten.

If people keep saying it's Joe Allen's fault they need serious mental help, it's a fucking collective effort.

Decision making at the top of the club is abject. 1. Removing a proper recruitment & due diligence process, under Hughes - leading to the most shocking waste of 70m (signing, fees et al) 2. Poor appointment of Lambert, as well as the timing of it - way too late & also past the time he could have made a difference in the window (chosen not to challenge the Board) 3. Poor appointment of Rowett 4. Poor appointment of Jones (chosen not to challenge the Board)
Feel sorry for NJ - he never had credentials for this job, nice guy, decent coach. Similar appointment to Paul Hurst at Ipswich last year. His two shortcomings are: 1. Chasing the diamond - rather than fitting the system to players and seeking to build on what was, after all, a team that won more than it lost. Down to lack of breadth of experience with different systems and players. 2. Recruiting low grade "triers", as he felt comfortable managing them. (Most latterly, the sentiment behind his Head of Recruitment, who has done a God awful job at Brighton for the past 12-18mths). Down to underlying lack of confidence, which he overcompensates for, because he is really trying to convince himself.

The 'family' taking their eye of the ball and assuming Hughes was doing a sterling job when he had actually lost interest and was signing players based on past reputations and you tube videos?

Butland can't keep a clean sheet 2. Because of 1. we spend 80 minutes just trying to draw a game 3. The need for massive change in the summer 4. The fact that we didn't do what we set out to do pre-season. It should have been longer, more intensive and signings should have happened the second the last ball was kicked last year, not fucking transfer deadline day. 5. This has been going on for so long now that it is part of what we generally expect

Keeping Hughes too long is only half of it. We had time to save that season and we appointed Paul fucking Lambert. Then Gary fucking Rowett. I don't want to write the current fella off yet but he's had about 5 strong performances since joining.
Our owners have absolutely no vision. Their obsession with shit British managers will continue to cost us.

hughes gutted the changing room of gritty/tough characters like Walters and Whalen and never replaced them, instead he brought in players only concerned with their pay cheque.
Never replaced Arlie either, that was the beginning of our decline, selling Arnie and not replacing him.
