We've never had a Technical Director as most people understand it, have we? These terms are prone to some of the worst obfuscation. 2 blokes with the same title doing the same job can be performing totally different roles. It's difficult to quite know who does what at times unless you have a General Manager/Sporting Director type like North American and German models who essentially are responsible for the entire player acquisition/development front leaving the coaches to just coach.

I don’t see why we need anyone. This is the managerial team’s job. It isn’t 1985 anymore March.

Seems like Brighton’s recruitment, like ours, went askew when they got more money to spend. Players like Gross and Propper were absolute bargains
Surprised that Jahanbaksh hasn’t worked out as he looked a really exciting player in the Eredivisie. Very hit and miss with signings from that league generally, but equally maybe Hughton as a cautious manager, wasn’t the one to get something out of him.
Locadia and Izquierdo don’t seem to have done a lot yet for big money signings.

Brighton seem to have recruited heavily from abroad over the past couple of years. Doesn’t really tie in with our new Brexit policy. Don't worry we're also recruiting a club genealogist and geneticist - and stock piling the half time oranges.

The Jones link I guess. Brighton haven’t recruited badly though. Really ? They have spent a fortune on non entities from abroad. By the way not suggesting he is rubbish but Brighton lack of strategy cost Hughton his job. A Mish mash side of Colombians, Iranians and many more Yet we got relegated and they didn’t. I like that Brighton team tbh

If we don't have a Tech Director don't ask why the likes of Nathan Collins ended up somewhere else and not at Stoke. In the modern game where results are a must immediatley not many managers will care for scouting, researching and signing 16 year olds.

For those who think jones has little time I think this shows he’s going to get time and is bringing in his own staff from top to bottom.. Thought he was getting the boot in a game or 2 🤭

Even the Lord won't make him immune to the normal laws of the football jungle.

Pathetic Not quite sure what your trying to say ? There was literally a segment on talkSPORT talking about Brighton’s signing policy. It was called the DBAD ( Don’t be a dickhead ) policy, where they check players personality and whether they would fit the group they already have rather than just signing decent players. I like the idea as that is what we have essentially been trying to do this summer, but without the amusing name.

I don’t see why we need anyone. This is the managerial team’s job. With all due respect to smaller clubs, we’re a championship club with a premiership setup. This isn’t some league 2 setup where the management team oversees every facet of the club, from the signing of players to the strength of the tea. This is a big job and delegation of responsibilities to trusted personnel is of utmost importance.

That may the case but unfortunately it comes with precious little accountability outside of the managers office at Stoke.

Manager will likely have more input lower down, but it's all operated by others in this day and age. The wheeler dealer managerial type is fast on the way out.

I don’t see why we need anyone. This is the managerial team’s job. This man will be part of the managerial team. Do you really think that Nathan Jones has the time to do a scouting and recruitment role as well as managing the day to day job of boss. Trust and communication are the major assets needed.

Will he be a Scholes yes man in the sense Pizza maker and delivery boy vs a gluten free Jones
Or Jones and new Pal ganging up on the small italian joint Toni Scholes Pizzeria
