It's no great secret that I am a dyed in the wool Tory.
But I do admire greatly 3 Labour stalwarts.
Tony Benn... A man of very high principals, never swayed from his ideology and extremely intelligent and articulate.
Dennis Skinner... Works tirelessly for his constituents, and has the best attendance record of all time, and like Benn, very principled and focused.
2 Jags... He has been on the TV a few times lately, he is passionate about Brittish History, especially all things related to our incredible industrial heritage, and he does not take himself seriously, a real decent bloke.

I would add Frank Field, Margaret Hodge and Hilary Benn to your list.

Tony Benn for reasons above Frank field a man of principle who’s not afraid to back a good idea wherever it comes from Enoch Powell for the same reasons as Tony Benn you don’t have to agree with all he believed in but he was highly intelligent and a man of principle

Michael Portillo seems like a good bloke. I went to a talk given by Portillo two or three years ago. He was very entertaining and amusing. He covered some of his experiences in politics, or course, but also his telly career and general life experiences. I was most impressed by his transition to ‘all round good egg’ from the Tory fascist twat he used to be.

Michael Portillo seems like a good bloke. Brilliant on This Week. Very knowledgeable on political history and looks at the bigger picture. And I hated him when he was a politician!

I heard Prescott on LBC a while back and he sounded like a political colossus in comparison to the likes of Burgon, Phillips and Long-Bailey. Also had a decent jab.

That’s probably because he was a plonker when he was a politician. His loss of his seat in 97 was something or a Damascene conversion for him.

Always liked Ken Clarke. I might be going fucking mental but I really liked the mentalist Rory in the leadership campaign. I just got the impression he didn't think we were all fucking idiots.

Always liked Alan Clark. Quite an interesting character with some apparently contradictory views. Hated Michael Heseltine 'because he had to buy his own furniture' Bit of a fascist but loved animals.

I don’t really support any party but I Always thought Charles Kennedy seemed pretty decent, he opposed the Iraq war which is why I voted for them in 2005.

Tristram Hunt was a pleasure to work with in 2013, 1000x more competent than his successor.
I've got a lot of time for Sarah Champion, takes serious guts to make sense and stand up to your own party and call them out for lunacy.
Douglas Carswell Was a gentleman too.

I agree with you on Tristram Hunt. Unfortunately he was perceived as a "toff" representing a working class constituency, but I remember that he managed to get the ceramics industry exemption from the 5% tax on electricity consumption proposed by the then Chancellor (George Osborne) A good example of an M.P.promoting the interests of his constituents, a function some M.P.s forget is their main purpose.

Sounds like Blowfelt Well Clark did live in a home worthy of a Bond Villain.... His diaries and 'Barbarossa' are both enjoyable reads too.
