These are two V good pieces of social commentary from the BBC, that only have limited time left on the iPlayer. The first one is a study of London school kids, on the aftermath of the Miners Strike & the postindustrial rave scene. It opens with a queue of kids waiting to get into Shelleys. The way that the lecturer connects the 80’s life & culture & London kids is quite a clash. The reason I put them together is that the second is a history of Ibiza’s relationship with dance & as I’m sure many of you know, during the Miners Strike a whole group of Miners from Stoke went to Ibiza & continued going. After the London types, Stoke was by far the greatest representation of Brits on the Ibiza dance scene until the early 90’s.
