I had to check this up, wizzard. And yes I admit I was wrong. She actually said she has Asperger syndrome on TV at a talk show called "Skavlan". She also has a sister with Adhd and components of ocd, asperger. Her mother got the diagnosis Adhd as an adult (read an article just now). Hm. This is difficult. I had no idea. There are no signs. How would you tell any of these has a disease? It isn't a disease mate. I work with people on the autistic spectrum which includes Aspergers. Most people with it seem a little bit 'detached' from others and lack a bit of social empathy. They aren't really affected by what other people think and react differently to criticism than we do. Oh that explains it, it’s obvious... There’s an outbreak of Aspergers in SOT.

There’s an outbreak of Aspergers in SOT. I think it can't be an outbreak, since it's not a disease. It's a name for specific personality characteristics. In another society or in the future Aspergers might be the normal state. I don't know about Britain, but in Sweden every other person on TV has been diagnosed with ADHD or something like ADD, OCD, Asperger Syndrome. Many singers, tv hosts, actors etc. They obviously want to be in the spotlight? Or is this what we see, just a proof it's being overdiagnosed?

... Or Smoke... Pollution. In any case, pretty pathetic of the climate change deniars to hijack a thread and use it to beat Thunberg, when the OP related to Lucas and Banks. For what it's worth, I think her message is vitally important. That tweet did make me smile though and I thought it might make some people here smile too.

So the way I see it is that she's there to raise awareness of the global issues, and I'm fine with that as I'm a big believer in making the planet a better place for future generations to live.

In terms of carbon emissions our output is minuscule compared to other countries, we could literally become carbon nuetral and it would make no difference, shouldn’t she be lecturing the Chinese and Americans first ?

It wasn't a joke, even a shit joke, he just mentioned that boats can have tragic accidents at this time of year. Not good against an autistic girl, whatever the circumstances. I'm not defending Lucas here, I can't stand the woman. You'd be up in arms if somebody insinuated your children could die in an accident wouldn't you? She's got Aspergers Syndrome (like Chris Packham.) If she was my daughter I'd be extremely proud of her and wouldn't want a fat cunt like Banks taking the piss. But unlike Chris packham she isn’t a sanctimonious prick

It is a while since I have seen such outpourings of bile as on this thread. FWIW Climate change is a pressing issue and we have to find ways of dealing with it but I can't for the life of me think how without pain of some sort.

There's also a huge amount of cognitive dissonance from Politicians who listen to her, talk about the need for change etc. But come any G.E will have to tack straight back onto the economy. If it's to do with increased costs of living then I don't mind that much. I will just consume less to compensate for it, where I can. Fossil fuels will eventually run out in any case so clean energy (hopefully clean) will be used more and more whether we like it or not. So why wait is my opinion on it. ... And then I think of the money being wasted on Brexit that could be put to much better use.

There you have it... What absolute rot. "we need to act" By doing fucking what? what action?? If you lot want to fawn over a 15 year old doing not calling for others to do look no further, this kid is amazing. (now 18 14 or 15 when he kicked off.) A real doer.

Well, she is a spokesperson, a face. That's important also. I really appreciated this video, it gives some kind of hope in all misery.🙂 Of course it could be done, we can make it. But we have to get China, India and Africa on the boat as well. And naturally change our behaviour, some of us at least. Like some people where a mate of mine lives. In the neighbourhood he've seen them taking their boats out on the sea and just dumping their freezers, refrigerators, tv:s and computers straight into the water, when they are about to replace them at home. It happens all the time. They even say it straight out with pride. And this is Sweden.

Climate change will take a huge social and infrastructure change, where we move away from a society based on profit and expansion, and move toward one based on wellbeing and sustainability. We must take immediate action, and even net-zero carbon by 2025, which is doable with will, will not stop all adverse effects of climate change.

A quick question, have you travelled around our little island and seen how many new housing developments are being built? Where do you think all the resources, energy, minerals, gas, electric, water etc is coming from to build and then sustain all this development?? The thing with this climate change stuff is they never mention the elephant in the room and that's POPULATION...sorry to put it in capitals. Look at the forecasts of population growth in Africa and other developing nations. It's off the scale. The information is out there. The 2021 census in the UK should be a wake up call and a warning that mass uncontrolled immigration is a path of irretrievable suicide for native Britons and this country's future.
