Quite surprised by the way his career has gone since signing for Seville to be honest, seems a waste that he’s ended up in Turkey after showing so much promise.....

People have moaned about us getting tucked up by Galatasary over Badou, Here's Roma paying 25million for Nzonzi and they get him on loan. How do they do it ?

When he was at Sevilla I'm sure he was linked with Juve, Manchester city and Arsenal, so I'm a little surprised too. Looks like a level down for the Fonz...
The complete centre mid for today's game.

Yeah, that World Cup winners medal and regular Champions League football will never make up for leaving us. That’s not what I meant at all. After his spell at Seville I thought he’d go on to be a regular in the national side and potentially get a move to to one of Europe’s big guns. So for him to end up in Turkey is both surprising and a little disappointing.....

Yeah, that World Cup winners medal and regular Champions League football will never make up for leaving us. That’s not what I meant at all. But after his first spell at Seville I thought he’d go on to be a regular in the national side and potentially get a move to to one of Europe’s big guns. So for him to end up in Turkey is both surprising and a little disappointing..... I always thought he'd end up at Juve or Barca. He'd have been excellent for them. Whilst yes, he's won the World Cup and been to the CL Semi-Finals, a move to Galatasaray is as you said, surprising considering his superb talent.
If they get Zonz, I suspect they will have no need to bring back Badou. Which could be good or bad for us depending on Badou's willingness to play or not.

We bought him for £3m and sold him for £7m (a miracle in itself!) and he will be 31 on 15th Dec. Would be good to get him back on the cheap.

Nzonzi was at times a pleasure to watch when he was at Stoke. He seems to have problems settling down in one place for more than two years. Turkey is a place where footballers go to die, just the same as China. Highly skilled player, i would welcome him back to Stoke in a milli-second. I think that his agent is acting in the same way as Arnies. Only one way that this will end up...

If he's just on loan it could easily be that the new Roma boss doesn't fancy him, the sort of clubs he'd consider have largely done their business, so a 1 year loan to a CL club keeps him in the shop window and look for a better perm move next summer.

Looks like he's back starting again for France after a spell out.
Third start in a row now he's back playing for Rennes.
What a gloriously strange career he's had.

He’s gone on to have a career he’d have never had at Stoke. It could well be his agent that’s turning his head. It could also just be a young man enjoying moving around before he doesn’t have the chance. I’ve taken short 2 year contracts in my line of work in different countries when offers to remain were easier, it does add a bit of spice to it all while it’s possible to do so. From the outside, agents definitely feel like they are ruining football, but it could be just as easily a case of wanting to move around on his part also.

Quality player...a Rolls Royce on his day. Extending your car analogy a little, most of the time he was here he seemed content to play in third gear but could move effortlessly up the gears when he chose to. I think that is his nature and maybe explains why he never reached the level in the game his ability could have taken him to.

I think that is his nature and maybe explains why he never reached the level in the game his ability could have taken him to. I thought most of the time he was here, from the day he walked through the door until the day he left, he was comfortably head and shoulders above anything else we'd had in central midfield for about 25 years. He had that brief spell out of the side when he was sent off and Hughes didn't immediately bring him back but even as part of a Pulis midfield where he was clearly miserable and regularly bypassed, he had more about him than any other option in the squad.
