Surely when we fine tune our shooting boots, someone is gonna be on the end of a good pasting, cos we seem pretty close to getting it right at last.
Just hope we can start with the sheepshaggers on saturday.

Another similarity with 89/90. We were saying that until December. The pasting we gave out was at Brighton when it was too late.

My concern is whether NJ will stick with the 352 that clearly worked much better for us, or whether he'll revert to type and opt for the same diamond or try and shoehorn Allen back in. |

Nobody is in for a pasting if we can't convert 24 shots on goal to more than 6 on target, and into more than 1 goal.
Baby steps though. It's a long time since I've seen a Stoke side have that many goal attempts in a game. It wasn't so long ago that it was taking half a season to have that many goal attempts!
Let's hope that the first win last night has calmed everyone down and that the players now go into the weekend with a monkey off their backs.

There will be a few pastings handed out this season if we start games like we did v Charlton. When we start hitting the target which we will a lot of teams in this league won't be able to live with that football at that pace, a few will fold.

I can envisage a Keegan-esque scenario where we score 5 but concede 4 coming up in a 'we'll score one more than you' game

We’ve been saying this for about a decade now. 6-1 Liverpool? It occasionally happened yeah. But it’s hardly been a consistent thing has it? Even looking like we’re dangerous. When we were at our best we’d get that for about a month. But in that time, we’ve always been pretty shit at shooting. |

They’re obviously under orders to get more shots off after the qpr game, we had 24 last night, 6 of them were on target and we scored 1, hopefully accuracy improves otherwise the only people in for a pasting are the fans sat behind the goal 🙂

Seem to remember Carl Saunders not been able to score, then the manager had him in for shooting practice and he went on a real scoring run,and there’s stein too it wasn’t until he came back the second time her started scoring 😉

Dont want to dampen the upbeat feel but, you have to take into account the opposition quality, tactics etc too....its not just about us.
