Much better. Kept it tight, bossed the game and the midfield actually looked like it was doing it on purpose (whether that was purely about dropping Joe I'm not so sure, we'll see). And the outcome: a good away win at a banana skin club. Nice day at the office Nate.
8 from me

Bit hard to rate this one Sal as hardly any of us at home saw it.

Solid game, Etebo showed his class, we absolutely bossed the game as soon as he came on, an 8 from me, more tiny shoots of recovery.

We won. Fab to see a young CB 3. Didn’t make any crazy substitutions. Did something other than the diamond. Not a clue what happened in the match having listened on Signal 2 but hard to see what’s not to like about tonight.

9/10. Anyone that can't see how much better we are playing than the same point last season needs a reality check. The only thing stopping it being a 10 is we can't seem to put teams away but Jones can't shoot for them

Didn’t like the look of the line up before the game but Can’t complain, sounded like we dominated, particularly in the first half.
Not getting carried away, Wigan made 10 changes so I don’t know how to gage how good a win this was,... we might have just beat Wigan reserves ? 🤔

Get the feeling that the Wigan fans considered that weakened side by the standard of the usual starting line up. I’m not trying to demean the result, a wins a win in the cup 👍 just trying to get some perspective.

7.5 we looked comfortable, albeit against a reserve Wigan side. Real positives tonight were obviously the result and the clean sheet, Duffy's corners were an improvement on what we had recently, Carter-Vickers looks a solid addition at the back and Nigerian Pete is back. Going forward, we need to start putting chances away, granted their keeper played well, but we need to start banging them in when we are in the ascendancy, as better teams than Wigan will punish us for it.

Love how we still played a diamond in midfield with 3 at the back

Thought the Stoke fans were brilliant, the officials however were worse than pathetic. There was a blatant penalty on McLean tonight and the ref and his assistant bottled it. A good 8 out of ten from me.

9*
Would have liked more goals for our dominance but Jones can’t score them himself.
Collins captain.
One of the most dominant stoke performances I’ve seen.
Today’s the day the momentum shifts.

He really needed this and he could have bottled it. He went with the youngest back line I can remember and an 18 y/o captain that didn't let him down. He got game time into his new signing Duffy and 90 for Tom. He's obviously thinking long term and isn't worried by the blip. He went "all in" ballsy and for that reason alone he deserves great credit. 👏👏

Only listened to the game on the radio but Great!!
We won, away. Under a lot of pressure to do so. Kept a clean sheet. Pretty solid all round performance by the sounds of things . Correct substitutions made at right time.
Onwards and upwards. Well done.

9 for me
I have slated him enough recently and getting bored with it. This was a must-win game for me: We had to keep the same intensity as Charlton, we had to field a strong team and we had to win a bloody game of Nogger to get confidence going and to remember how to - and we did all of that.
20+ goal attempts is a fantastic effort away from home and a feckin clean sheet also - almost perfect(1 mark deducted for only scoring one)
Has to leave Butland and Batth out of the side on Saturday, both are struggling at the moment and we appear to have other options.
I have a taste for this humble pie, so more of it against Derby please

9* This is the start of something I think, the formation was absolutely brilliant and if we play it against the sides in the bottom half this season I think we’ll dominate. I wouldn’t play it against the bigger sides in the division though as we could get penned in and pushed back.

9* brave but sensible by jones to make 8 changes after 2 defeats knowing fine well he will be in the spotlight if we lost.
Won the game with one eye on a tough league game next up where he will go with what played so well first half against charlton.
The wheels are moving

It was impossible to work out what was going on with the commentary!

He left out Joe Allen, which is a default 8 in itself. Mark Duffy just seems to have endless ideas of what to do with a football, shrewd acquisition who should be starting. That centre-back core was fucking sexy and we dominated from start to finish.

We have lift-off!
Brave choices by the boss, don't know what else he could have done. Players did well but should have scored at least 1 more.
