They would struggle in our league I reckon. The sad fact is the support of rangers and Celtic is so big in Scotland, uk and worldwide if they started at the bottom of our pyramid they would eventually get to the prem and compete. Their income stream would be larger than half our prem league

Their fans were knocking Rodgers for joining Leicester, the irony being Leicester, in their only Champions League campaign, had a run that Celtic could only dream of.
Where's kelw anyway? They seem awfully quiet lately 😎

Is it not more important to have a wealthy benefactor like Man City or Chelsea?

Is it not more important to have a wealthy benefactor like Man City or Chelsea? Yes totally. Celtic have less money than us but to me always seem to do better in the transfer market. Their current side would be top 6 in our division I'd say, and at a fraction of the price of our own squad

It’s all hypothetical but you’d soon see the wealthy support ( especially Celtic ) come forward and take them over if they came south They are a world brand especially in the USA

Scottish league is surely one of the most pointless in world football. Why bother. What for?

I'd say it's the opposite- anyone can beat anyone, plenty of big clubs have struggled and it's one of the best-supported divisions in Europe. I watch the SPL 15-minute highlights on Sky and when Livingston, St Johnstone or Hamilton aren't playing the Old Firm all you see is whole stands full of empty seats.

The SPL is a poor league in comparison to the Championship IMO.
You have Celtic and Rangers always up there, then you'll get Kilmarnock or Aberdeen competing like recently for one of the Top 3 spots. Aside from when Rangers went out of the SPL, the table doesn't vary a lot each season.
A lot of the teams probably know they can't keep up with Celtic budget wise and footballing, so it's probably a battle to get those 2nd and 3rd spots to get into the Europa League. Then you've got the Scottish Cup for qualification as well.
Think as void says, in the Championship, anyone really can beat anyone and big clubs have struggled. Look at Middlesborough, Leeds, Portsmouth, Sunderland etc... Three of those teams have played in League 1, 2 of them still are.
For all we know, QPR could have a stormer this season and make the play offs, even though they were tipped to really struggle. Comparatively, I couldn't see Hamilton or St Johnstone storming the SPL.
Scottish football needs a big injection of cash. Small gates, much lower player wages, smaller transfer fees so they aren't able to sign the top players. However I commend the fans of those clubs who go every game, good on them for supporting their team.

What a terrible level the Scottish leagues are if celtic can win the treble over and over.
Scott brown is a poor man's Terry hurlock - minus the curls. And what a waste of a career for Scott sinclair a player who chose the easy life for medals worth no more than toys out of a cracker.

It shouldn't be a big shock, Celtic lost to a team from Gibraltar not that long ago (okay, they lost the first leg and won on aggregate, but even so...)

Scottish league is surely one of the most pointless in world football. Why bother. What for? I’d say it as about as pointless as the Championship. Really? Well, when I say pointless, I refer to the aspects of whether its worth competing in, because there is something to compete for:- So In the SPL - Club 1 - Celtic having a squad value of 49m (similar to Derby, Swansea) - 4 times the third placed team and 10 times the bottom 7 clubs, who are therefore on the same level as the likes of Fleetwood, Rotherham, Shrewsbury. They. have now unsurprisingly won the league 8 years in a row. The last time Club 1 or Club 2 (Rangers) didn't win the league was 37 years ago, in 1984.... But for the abberation of 1982-84, you then have only one other winner back to 1964. And winning the league leads, systematically and inevitably, to failure at the next level aka Europe. By contrast, in the Championship, last year's 2 automatically promoted teams in the Championship were 9th and 12th favourites, there have been 13 champions in 15 years, and 50%+ survive at the next level. Even newly promoted teams from League 1 have a chance of success. I know which I'd prefer to pull my boots on for. Celtic and Rangers should just play a two legged tie.
