Stein was born in South Africa if you want him ahead of Bojan. One potential name for other thoughts (as a couple of thankfully called out Freddie Steele) - Frank Soo. Another who probably lost his best playing years to the war. I don’t think anyone here saw him play did they? Anyone’s Dads or Grandads profess to how good he was? Very highly rated by my late FIL. Franklin and Soo were often mentioned in the same sentence, Was talking to a Stoke fan (second longest season ticket holder) who's first match was in 1937,he says Frank Soo was one of the best players to wear a Stoke shirt. Many Stoke fans, himself included, rated him more highly than Sir Stan.He was the first coloured player to play for England and the only player of Asian descent to play for England. Some commentators think he has been forgotten due to his Asian roots.

Amazed no Greenhoff in either team. Best volleyer I've ever seen and the best striker never to play for England imho.

Not necessarily The Best, but the team I’d look forward to going to see, from fairly recent times, with everyone at their peak. 442 Bego Wilco Shawcross Huth Pieters Glenn Rory SJW Pennant Crouch Rick SJW in instead of Etherington?

It’s definitely a matter of age, I can’t vouch for any of the players of the 70s.
GK - Begovic Rb - Wilkinson Cb - Shawcross Cb - Huth Lb - Pieters Cm - N’Zonzi Cm - Delap Rw - Shaqiri Am - Bojan Lw - Arnie Fw - Beattie
I would go with Fuller, but I think Beattie would bag more.
Sorenson, Faye, Shtaniuk, Whelan, Etherington, Walters, Fuller.

Having a debate at work at the moment about what the best ever Stoke XI (and 5 subs) would look like, see below for what we've come up with. Anyone you would add/change? GK: Gordon Banks RB: Jackie Marsh CB: Huth CB: Denis Smith LB: Pejic RW: Sir Stan CM: Steven N'Zonzi CM: Greenhoff LW: Arnautovic FW: Ricardo Fuller FW: Stein Subs: Shilton, Shawcross, Hoekstra, Shaqiri, Ritchie greenhoff Centre midfield you having a spliff Didn't Greenhoff start as a centre half and was then a winger until Revie converted him to a forward

Three players who could get you off your seat. Fucking hell, I miss them.
