Woods is fine when we are on the ball, but an athletic dominant breaker up of play from a defensive standpoint he is not. We are as weak as anything in that midfield area and that seems to have now spread back into the heart of defense. I can see what Jones is trying to achieve going forwards, but that needs to be tempered with having a team that can physically impose itself both in attack and in defense. The diamond brings many attacking benefits if you get on top of the opposition, but means that you are always going to be exposed a couple of times at least in a game to counter-attacks through the middle or down the channels. At the moment: - We get on top (Derby/Charlton/QPR to an extent), but concede weak goals on the counter-attack. - We get physically over-powered and concede weak goals. The defense, keeper and midfield (when defending) look shot to pieces. We are no way physical enough or disciplined enough to play this system without conceding at least a goal a game given the current crisis of confidence at the back.

I think that our new keeper (who was signed to be Butlands replacement) can’t even get onto the bench tells it’s own story. If you saw them both in preseason then you would have witnessed Fed’s clanger against Wrexham and also Davies’ feeble effort against Lincoln. We currently don’t have a good goalkeeper at the club. Mick come on now hardly a reason to wright them off is it. One mistake each but I'll play along: Fed put the FB in trouble did not give a goal away Edwards could have kicked it out of play could he not? Davies saved a shot on par with Jack for the third last night both pushed it into trouble with no defensive cover. I know it's devils advocate in my analysis but also fair all the same. Why do you think that Davies has not made an appearance so far? I’m sure you would agree that Federici is average at best. Seems strange that an international with a good season under his belt is only third choice?

As for Davies I'm not sure why there was an indication he was taking time to bed in. Again though he's better than Jack currently let's face it he really can't be any worse, Jack has imploded.
