Anyone going a non-league game today?
I’d never been to one before about 2 years ago (laziness) and it really is a good experience to get away from the corporate monster that is league football.
God willing I’m going Sandbach vs Eccleshall today.

Toying with the idea of going to Bromsgrove. What level is that? Sandbach is basically one above Sunday league I think but they try to play some good football but are so naive.

Thought the standard was actually pretty good, but maybe I’m comparing it with FNQ (I’m still playing 3rd Div & I’m 60!.) One of the players even had a bigger gut than me, but I think he was an ex-pro

I am over from the USA and went to watch my home town team play last Monday Whitchurch Alport v Hanley Town (4-1) in the NWCFL it's level 9. The quality of the football was excellent and the facilities and atmosphere generated by 350 people was very enjoyable. I try and get to see them a 3 or 4 times. People really should experience games at this level, plenty of teams local to SOT play in the NWCFL
They even have an electronic scoreboard in the corner and rerun the video recording of the game in the clubhouse a few minutes after the match has finished!

More than 1 level, on Saturday you'd have the Crewe and district, Cheshire 2, Cheshire 1, then the North West Counties south which Sandbach are in, then its NWC premier which is the likes of Congleton.

Sandbach 1 Eccleshall 2
Great afternoon spent watching non league.
A gale blowing, 2 sides playing decent football, kicking each other and a general laugh too.
Also seen the worst missed open goal I’ve ever seen and a goalie go up for a corner in the dying minutes and have a header cleared off the line.
Good game!

I go watch Bath City with the kids on occasion. It costs £15 for me & 2 kids. If they lose, I’m not depressed & it doesn’t take me 2 & half hours to drive home. & I get to have a few pints after the match

Sadly, I still check out the Western League results despite living hundreds of miles away and having lived away from the land of the Moonrakers for many years.

When Stoke score its exctasy to me. Never could replicate that genuine feeling. Its like having second teams or when we had that Dundee alliances. Just can't be the same

I did go see them V Paulton Rovers last year. The team that produced Ashley Barnes. The player that single handedly took 6pts off us in our relegation season. Larkhall won💋

i do a fair bit of NL and no its not the same as Stoke but then again the commitment is better do a days work on a Tuesday or Wednesday then play a 7.45Pm game. got to admire the commitment, training and organisation of those clubs and players. I do about 150-170 games a season at all levels youth to senior and am affiliated to a club and really enjoy it meet loads of great people from diverse backgrounds and i part sponsor a youth to senior local team for both boys, men, women and girls. Try it once and seemore to football than one team.

I didnt get there much last season but was regular season before at Alsager. Might try go this season. In same League as Sandbach so its a localish derby.
Been through a couple of managers last couple of seasons. However now they have a duo in charge. Lee Bennett and Dan Davies. Dont know to much about them.
They unfortunately lost 5-1 away at Oswestry saturday. Hopefully better fortunes in future games.
5 minute walk to ground.6 quid to get in. Chat to players stand right behind goal talk to manager and that. Its a good afternoon.

Watched Kettering Town a handful of times as a teen, stadium wasn't far away from home at all. Shame they're ground-sharing outside of the town now...but it was nice. Liked being able to move around the terraces, largely stand wherever and the football was still football.

There's 3 games on our village pitch this weekend, 2 league games on the Friday evening and B/H Monday and then on Saturday afternoon 1874 Northwich are playing an FA Cup 1st preliminary round.
Should be able to see the Friday night match, Barnton v Cheadle Town

Been watching Woking since 1990. We had Harry Arter and Jack Marriott playing for us a few years back, even Lee Sandford dropped in for a few games. Always a good atmosphere.

It’s Alsager v Stone Old Alleynians tonight. I’m having a wander up.
Went t’other week when they beat Sandbach. Alsager have got a team full of Mancs this season. Only two local lads I think.
