Grow up Look if you want to do it then do it I’m not stopping you, if it makes you think it’ll make Ryan’s day then do it ffs Why do you want everybody else to get involved in it, just do it Me I’ll sing his name when the crowd do and not in some orchestrated nonsense I just think the entire fan base should stand behind its club captain, if you disagree then ridicule me all you like. It's almost like saying I'll enjoy our FA Cup Semi 5-0 win against Bolton in my own time, if I want to sit in Wembley with a face like a smacked arse then leave me be! I’m not ridiculing you, in fact it was you who said about my morality Anyway I’ll leave you to it

There's no need to plan it I have no doubt about the fanbase being behind him, but cmon, a show of solidarity on the 17th minute surely isn't that hard to get behind?

Fuuuuuuuuuuck ooooooooooooff with this man. This is the kind of snowflake shit we'd ripped into liverpool fans and RAWK over not so long ago. I agree with you to the point it happened in pre-season a friendly, when barely anyone was there. A minute of solidarity with our club captain.

I think the spontaneous chanting of his name (which will no doubt happen anyway) will come across much better than a planned tribute on a specific minute. Let's be honest, the 'tribute' on such and such a minute every game (multiple times a game some weeks) has been overdone to fuck. It's also associated with death. Let people react how they actually feel at the time. Trust me, he'll know exactly how much we love him by the end of the game. That I can guarantee.

No, no and thrice no. Hes injured. Sing his name every game, awe should anyway, but it doesn't need planning or orchestrating. Ryan is a club legend and should be treated as such but he doesn't need a tribute that has become the domain of those that have died. such a stupid post, I said about singing his name not clapping ffs, sorry that it’s such an inconvenience for you I'll sing his name all through the game if you want bud. Why wait until the 17th minute?

I agree about the minute's applause 'tribute' being completely overdone, but is this not one of the only occasions where it is relevant? Not gonna lie, when these tributes usually happen, I look around and don't have a clue what they're about. But surely, everyone who supports Stoke has enough wits about them might twig in that this is for our club captain who has worn the the number 17 shirt for 12 years.

I don't remember anyone telling us when to celebrate. We just did. The same as we'll all be behind Ryan. We just don't need telling when to. That's all.

Everyone's hearts are in a great place here. Ryan's a legend.
Just feels like applause isn't appropriate. He's not dead. Not sure he'd want that sort of reaction, would you?.
He's - we damned well hope - going to make it back fit and strong in 6-12months time. And if the worst happens and he doesn't, he's a fantastic guy who am sure will move on with his life and be successful.
A burst or two of "one Ryan Shawx" would be nice. Its a bit soft, but think Im going to pop down to Smiths at lunch time, pick up a card and post it to the club.

People will do it. Somehow people thought the ask was for a minutes applause which it wasn’t. Also people just take umbrage at being told to do something at a specific time. The responses have been absurd I completely agree to a very well meaning post. Start your der der der Ryan Shawcross and I have no doubt the whole ground will be with you.

If there's a tribute of support it should be a big chant of his name just before kick off. During the 17th minute support should be for the players playing. And I'm sure Shawcy wouldn't have any problem with that notion.

They are big boys they know what a chant for Ryan means.

This type of planned minute or orchestrated chanting is everything that is wrong with modern football fans.
Ryan’s name will be sung during the game at some point, it just will .
why does it have to be pre planned, why does it have to be exactly on the minute of his squad number.
Fuck it off and just let it happen naturally.
Modern football fans really are the pits.
It’s depressing.

fuck me, does every single thing need to descend into an argument on here,
I can't see why we wouldn't want to let out club captain know that we are right there for him in arguably his toughest time as a professional footballer, I've stood up and clapped people I've never even heard of in the name of support and now people on here think they are somehow too good to send a message of support to one of our longest serving players, who will be going through hell and back just so he can play for Stoke city once more, 445 times this guy has worn the red and white stripes an achievement only 7 men have bettered in the156 year history of our football club and yet standing up and showing him that we are right there for him every step along the way is something cringe-worthy or makes us as fans look weak or whatever to other fans, seriously ?

Why are we planning this crap, it isn't needed, he'll get a chant at some point and fair enough, probably straight after Bojan does.

All old football was great of course. If people want to do it why would it bother you? This modern football fan cliche and when football was football etc is everything that's wrong with older fans. Not into the minute's applause either but hardly something to get upset about.

Jeez!!! 🙄 have a word with yourself, comparing once to shawcross ffs Who the fuck is "Once"?? It's not about comparisons.....it's about how fuckin rediculous this is getting now!!! Shawcross is injured, not dead....injured, it's part and parcel of the game!!! It looked a nasty injury, and "IF" it does turn out that it's career threatening (which I hope to God it's not), Then, I can understand us having some tribute to Ryan!!! If we'd had been doing this sort of thing back in the 70's, Denis Smith would have been having some sort of tribute every other week, ffs!!!

I’m sure fans will want to chant his name at different points on Saturday The squad will have been affected by this and will need some extra support too Many new players out there, passes will go astray, chances missed, defensive errors all happen Let’s try and raise morale and make a real difference from the off
