That looks horrible.
Hope it is not as bad as it looks but whether it is or not all the best for a full and hopefully speedy recovery Ryan.

Full commitment from Ryan, as usual. A horrible injury incurred trying to save a corner in a meaningless friendly. Applauded off by both sets of fans. Fair play to Leicester for that (and for the only atmosphere on show, incidentally). Speedy recovery Ryan.

I really can't see him play more this season if it's a broken ancle.

Could easily be a career ender at his age, although I'd love to be proven wrong on that, of course.

Up there with anyone If Ryan’s last footballing act for SCFC is lifting the Championship trophy come May’20, I’ll be a happy man. Good luck Ryan, wishing you a speedy recovery. I’ll never wish ill will on any man, but for Arsenal supporters...........

Been told it’s a broken fibula, ankle, and a dislocation. Very bad news. He’s in surgery in the morning.
Good luck Ryan for a speedy recovery.

I for one really hope this isn't the end for Shawcross and I hope to see him play again for Stoke City. I'll never forget the fact he went out of his way to get me a signed Stoke shirt when I was suffering with cancer, to which I'll always be grateful. Get better soon Ryan!

What’s everyone’s opinion on a nice little tribute for him ok the 17th minute vs QPR, given us so much over the years and could have left a few years back but stayed, absolute legend of this football club and would love nothing more than him lifting his first trophy for us at the end of the season

Devastated. Yep very similar to Ramsey and Luke Shaw but they were young lads when it happened to them. I fear this could be the last we see if him. Gutted if it is. Fingers crossed it's not that bad.

Obviously didn’t want something like this to happen and hope Ryan makes a full recovery. Just remember though how many people were calling for his head over the last 2 seasons! We were far more secure at the back for a pretty lengthy period while Ryan was on ‘gardening leave’ last year. We were never ever going to be able to sort out the Shawx conundrum. Great servant, great guy etc but into his twilight. This situation, if as bad as it sounds gives the opportunity to develop a new more dynamic and mobile CB pairing that so many people have felt was necessary and the appointment of a new captain which again lots of people thought was essential too. Maybe Ryan’s big contribution this season will be in the wings as a non-playing club captain! Tosser I'm sure "skelman" will realise the errors of his post on Sunday morning. It's crass and pretty poor to talk about someone like Ryan in that manner. He could have pushed us forward this season big style. To think an injury of such magnitude is going to help us is the talk of a madman.

Might need to repeat it again at a later date too. I’m not too sure he will be at the game. Would be awesome for him to see it. For all his service, he never really gets great acknowledged at the game much. Well not quite enough for me. For example Marc muniesa was sung all the time, now MM was a good player for us and a decent bloke to boot, but he’s nowhere near Ryan.

Nah. I wish him a speedy recovery & must be horrific for him but please no - bad idea can I ask why it’s a bad idea I'm generally not a fan of these "clap a x minute" ideas anyway & a combination of it just being an injury, first game of the season where we should be fully in the moment behind the team spurring them on & again I really don't like the "clap on x minute" ideas. He's done a lot for the club, is a bit of a hero, was looking like he was getting back to his best & again must be horrific for him & his family - really hope he recovers fine & is alright.

That I think was the biggest. And his goal last season. But you’re right it’s hardly ever sung. Had we known what a legend he would become we perhaps would have had a better song!

I might be wrong but broken bones isn’t as bad as damaged ligaments? Obviously it is devastating and I am so gutted for him (and stoke) - and I’m by no means saying otherwise - but could it have been worse if ligaments had been torn?

Loosely broken bones are bad, but you can recover completely from, but ligaments you never recover from and sometimes you don't return from.
