Scored 11 in one season, which actually was 12 as he was the last to touch what was given as Bojan's goal against Spurs, but as he was in an offside position he wasn't given it I presume. Worked hard and chased everything, I really feel he hasn't been given the credit he deserves here. I think he's been hard done to in general by the club and fans a like tbh. Had the best goalscoring season in the Premier League for us and then was treated appallingly from there. He's been hard done to in this thread for sure but treated appallingly? Bollocks. You don't half talk some hyperbolic shite. He's been given over 100 appearances for Stoke in the prem, given access to some of the best training facilities in the country, paid millions in both signing on fees and wages and all this while we can universally accept that his technical ability is fairly limited as a top-flight footballer. I hardly think asking him to play on the wing/wing back is treating him appallingly. He was arguably a better wing back than he was a forward.

He's a footballer, you sign a contract get paid ridiculous money and turn up for training. If you have anything about you the manager picks you for matches, sometimes he doesn't. I dont think Amnesty International will be required on this occasion... Diouf can be filed alongside Sidibe, Whitehead, Whelan & probably quite a few more who should pinch themselves every day and thank their lucky stars that the stars aligned while they were at Stoke and gave them a chance to play in the Premier League.

People just not giving players a chance before a ball is kicked does my fucking head in Still they’ll cover their arses with their “hope he proves me wrong “ rhetoric The chances of Diouf proving people wrong are at long odds, he really is piss poor. I’m on about Gregory

Do you really need a thread slagging someone off who has never given anything but their all for us? Really. He's moving on. It's clearly time but jeez give it a rest. That's why I felt the need to step in. Some people are way to fast to piss all over our recent past at the same time as heaping approbation on those who are as yet merely on the curve of inflated expectations...drives me nuts

Can’t see him getting any game time, even in the Cup. I struggle to think anyone would be willing to pay anywhere near the salary he’s on at Stoke, so looks like he could be a very expensive U23 player. I wouldn’t even play him in the U23's, if we can't sell him tell him to stay at home. Why?

He’s clearly not part of NJ’s plans so we can only assume that he is going to be either released or moved on a ‘free’. Served us well for a time, scored some good goals, missed some sitters, but well past his sell-by date. Good luck to him, wherever he ends up.

I wouldn’t even play him in the U23's, if we can't sell him tell him to stay at home. Why? Not needed for the first team squad, no future at the club and unlike someone like say Charlie I can't see him helping develop the younger players so why waste a slot in the U23's?

The blokes only been at the club a month and some are questioning his signing. Give the bloke a chance ffs. We signed him as he was a free and can score goals at this level and is the type of leader that Jones wants.

I know I’m over simplifying it but I can’t get my head around how a someone can get so far in the game without having the basic ability to control a football.

I know I’m over simplifying it but I can’t get my head around how a someone can get so far in the game without having the basic ability to control a football. At his peak he made up for that by having a natural goalscorers gift for being in the right place at the right time.

Does Nath just not fancy him as a player or has there been some falling out ? He remains our top scorer in a Premier League season and was a willing worker in a Hughes back 5 . Are people like Gregory who we signed better forwards than him then? I rather doubt it. Gregory at least understands the offside rule. And I am not a Diouf hater, the constantly getting offside was a big downside to his game.

That open goal missed header in the sunshine a few weeks before relegation still grates with me, an incredible miss for a 'so called' professional footballer.

He has great positional sense to be in the right place at the right time. I remember spurs away when we drew 2-2. He missed two good chances then scored a header off his shoulder before we got a late penalty to draw.. he’s a 100% player who never gives up. Best of luck

Diouf was the epitome of the old cliche "If he didn't have those faults he wouldn't play for us"
At his best he was pacey, hard working and strong...if he could finish and had more composure he wouldn't have ever left Man Utd
I always said the worst thing you can give Diouf is space and time...his best work was on reactions and pure instinct
I wish him nothing but luck in the future but he is firmly in the time to move on camp

He's had masses of tragedy for which the club gave him plenty of compassionate leave and support. Diouf himself acknowledged as much in an interview on his return, thanking the club and Mark Hughes specifically. Just Google it, you can find his quotes. Doesn't sound like someone who thinks they have been treated appallingly. "Betrayed" and "ran into the ground" is more hyperbolic nonsense.

For a long time he was our ‘best option’ up front but Hughes kept preferring anyone else. Moving him to right back ruined any strikers instinct he had which was his best trait being in the right place at the right time. I am/was a Diouf fan, but towards the end of the relegation season he was getting harder and harder to defend after som poor showings and equally poor missed. Time to move on camp for me. For what it’s worth the guy is incredible in the air, but we barely ever crossed it to him. It’s been so fucking infuriating to watch.
